Voices in My Head

Here is our main character, Evan, lounging on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through videos to pass the time. His surroundings felt stiflingly ordinary, the only excitement being the occasional flicker of a new video thumbnail catching his eye. However, the mundanity was shattered when a voice echoed in his head.

[Hey!]

Startled, Evan glanced around the room, expecting to find someone lurking nearby. Yet, there was no one to be seen, only the quiet solitude of his living room. He shrugged it off as his imagination running wild or perhaps the neighbors engaging in a heated argument outside.
But then the voice returned, clearer and more urgent this time.

[Hero, please come save us! We need your-]

Evan's heart raced, a chill creeping down his spine. He clutched the remote tightly, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an intruder. The voice persisted, reverberating in his mind like an unwelcome guest overstaying their welcome.

"Who the hell is that?! Who are you?" Evan barked, his voice tinged with equal parts confusion and frustration. Silence greeted his demand, stretching on for agonizing moments before the voice spoke again, cutting through the stillness.

[Hero, please save us! We need your help!]

Evan's panic rose, a knot forming in his stomach. He shook his head, trying to dispel the voice like a nagging thought that refused to leave. Yet, it persisted, its tone now tinged with desperation and fear.

[Hero please, help us! We need your-]

"No," Evan interjected firmly, his voice cutting through the cacophony in his mind. He was a simple guy, content with his unassuming life and unwilling to entertain the absurdity of the situation unfolding before him. He's seen enough fanfics and isekai bullcrap to know what most likely will happen.

"Your problem, not mine. Grab some idiot protagonist or something," he retorted, his frustration boiling over. The voice persisted, its urgency escalating with each plea, but Evan remained steadfast in his refusal.

[Hero, please! We need your help! Without you, our world might get destroyed!] the voice pleaded, its desperation palpable.

But Evan remained unmoved, his resolve unyielding. He refused to be dragged into a world of fantastical woes, content to live his life on the sidelines.

"To be honest with you, voice in my head? I don't care. Now call me evil or whatever, I don't care," he declared, his tone tinged with indifference.

[This is not how a hero should act-]

"What hero? I didn't accept your absurd request!" Evan snapped, his patience wearing thin.

[But you're supposed to be a hero!]

"Then find another one! Should be easy if you find me to be a hero!" Evan shot back, his irritation mounting with each passing moment.

[Tch. Screw you then!]

"Screw you too!" Evan retorted, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders as the voice finally fell silent.

Two hours later -

[Hero, we need your-]

Evan groaned, rubbing his temples as a headache began to form. The voices had persisted for far too long, their incessant pleas wearing down his patience.

[System Initialized]

"Huh?"

[Welcome to the Servant System]

Evan blinked, his confusion mounting as the familiar voice echoed in his mind once more.

"Huh?"

MC: Totally didn't steal this.
A/N: Hey! Screw you! Why don't you come up with a good system name on the spot! Ahem! So, this will be my first story, and I'll accept criticism so that I can improve, no matter how absurd they are.

So, happy reading!
