She thinks about her a lot . She'd like to think that, maybe just maybe, Gyuri had never left in the first place, but that would just be too cruel for her heart to handle. It's been well over a year, and Saerom still isn't over the fact that Gyuri left them. Left her .
Saerom lay motionless on her bed, numb from the fact that Gyuri's birthday, a month back, was just another normal day for them. The painful thought that it was the 2nd year in a row where they couldn't celebrate the supposedly happy day as a whole group still hurt her on unexplainable levels.
A sudden knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. "Yeah? Come in; the door's open," Saerom called out, the weariness in her voice showing.
The door opened, revealing a very drowsy overgrown 'puppy' - Seoyeon. Saerom could not help but brighten up as the clingy woman waddled over to her. The warmth that Seoyeon’s presence provided offered a temporary moment of peace for her as the girl collapsed onto her bed. The comforting feeling seeped into Saerom’s body as Seoyeon gingerly wrapped her arms around the taller girl. Seoyeon was somehow always there for Saerom when she was vulnerable, and she felt gratitude for the shorter girl for that.
“Jisunnie is making breakfast. Do you want some?” Seoyeon mumbled out of the blue, startling Saerom.
Saerom nodded as she got up, bringing Seoyeon up with her, too.
As they entered the living room, they could already smell the pancakes that Jisun always made for them since their debut. In the kitchen, Jisun was already working on making the last pancake. Unsurprisingly, all the girl's seem to have left their respective rooms because of the smell from the pancakes.
A string of ‘good mornings’ were said as each of them sat around the table while Jisun brought the pancakes to the dining table.
Jisun placed a pancake each on everyones plates. In the end, there was only one pancake left. Saerom glanced up to see Jisun turning red. She must've forgotten that there were only 8 people to feed now.
Somehow, no one noticed the awkwardness that a mere food item provided to both of them.
After finishing her food, Saerom left the table to return to her room. As she lay back on her bed, her thoughts went back to Gyuri. Why was she specifically thinking about Gyuri today.
She didn't want to think about her
The neon sign flickered as Saerom took another sip of the bitter drink in her hands, her throat having the burning sensation afterwards. In all honesty, Saerom usually drank during special occasions like the group's anniversary or music show wins, so drinking alone at night on a day off was unusual for her, too. She just needed to unwind a little after the harsh realities of the day.
As she continued to drink, she recalled all the times when Gyuri would drink alongside her. Having the highest tolerance in the team made it easy for them to be drinking partners. Now, thinking about Gyuri felt like a painful reminder that was similar to having a hole punched through her heart that even all the alcohol in the world couldn’t fill up.
Saerom mentally berated herself for even letting herself think about Gyuri. Tonight was supposed to be a way for her to forget about her, even if it was just for a few hours. A few drinks won’t be enough for her. If she wanted to actually achieve her goal for tonight, she needed way more drinks.
