Emma sat in her office, staring at her computer screen. She had been mindlessly scrolling through her social media account when a familiar face caught her attention. It was Ethan, her high school sweetheart. It had been ten years since they last spoke, but seeing his profile photo brought back a wave of emotions she thought she had long buried. She clicked on his profile and found that he was living in a different state, working as a freelance web developer. She couldn't help but feel curious about what he had been up to all these years. As she scrolled through his photos, she saw that he had traveled extensively, participated in various sports and hobbies, and seemed to be living a fulfilling life.Emma took a deep breath and decided to message him. It was a bold move, but she was feeling spontaneous. They exchanged pleasantries and shared updates on their lives. The conversation was surprisingly easy, and it didn't take long for them to arrange a meeting. As she drove to the coffee shop, Emma's mind raced with uncertainty. Would Ethan look the same? Would they have anything in common anymore? As she entered the coffee shop, she could see him sitting at the corner table. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw him stand up to greet her with a smile."Emma, it's great to see you," Ethan said, enveloping her in a tight hug. They sat down, and the conversation flowed smoothly from one topic to another. They laughed about their shared memories of high school, talked about their college experiences, and updated each other on their current states of life.As the conversation went on, Emma and Ethan both realized that the chemistry between them was still there. They felt the ease and comfort that they used to share with each other. They couldn't ignore the elephant in the room and began discussing their past relationship."Emma, what do you think happened between us? Why did we drift apart?" Ethan asked."I think we were both young and trying to find our own way," Emma said. "I had ambitions that didn't fit in with your plans, and we just grew apart.""I always regretted not fighting for us, not trying harder," Ethan said.Emma nodded in agreement. "Me too."As the conversation drew to a close, Emma and Ethan exchanged phone numbers. They hugged each other goodbye, and Emma felt a sense of loss as he walked away. She couldn't shake off the feeling that they were meant to reconnect somehow. As she drove back to her apartment, Emma's mind was in overdrive. She couldn't stop thinking about Ethan and how much she missed him. It was as if a part of her had been reignited, and she didn't know how to handle it.That night, Emma went to bed thinking about Ethan, wondering if they could ever rekindle their love after so many years apart.
