the end of the week strolled pretty fast, and you were to pick up the little troll you babysit before your cheer practice starts. you were both civil, after a wednesday and thursday filled with screaming and arguing.

gabi currently sat behind the team, groaning and sighing to herself in dread while the high schoolers were about to finish training.

"gabriella i swear i'll knock you out if i hear a single sound come from you in the next few minutes" you turned to her with an angry face. at this, gabi groaned again to bother you and fell back into the bleachers.

soon enough, practice was over, you dismissed the girls and bid goodbye to your friends. they asked about gabi but, you told them she was a family friend that followed around everywhere because she looked up to you.

"hey!" you tapped gabi's leg, while organizing your stuff "come on i'm leaving" you would be lying if you said the girl didn't grow on you this last couple days, she wasn't that bad, only a bit very frustrated because her father wasn't around her as much as before, and took it out on the first person she saw, which was - most of the time - you.

"okay okay..." she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. gabi had a test today earlier and she told you she barely slept studying for it. so it was only logical she was tired at this point.

"your father should be home by now right? or do i have to stay with you to wait for him?" you spoke, walking along the girl as you turned the gym lights off and closed the metal doors. the two of you were then in the parking lot, walking towards your car.

"uhhh" she looked down "he's not coming today, he said he's gonna have to stay at work because he has an important patient that needs to be watched or he'll die"

"what?" you looked at her, both climbing into your car.

"yeah... he told me like half an hour ago, i'm sorry i didn't tell you, but i didn't want to interrupt your practice... especially when you were mad at the other girls" she fiddled with her hands "you can just drop me off at home"

"alright" you nodded, having totally different plans.

the sun slowly started to set, as you drove away from school, the houses got bigger and prettier, leading to your neighborhood. "where are we?" gabi suddenly spoke. she had fallen asleep a couple minutes into the ride and used her backpack as a pillow.

"smith house" you said, not talking very loud. you pressed the little remote control you kept in your keys and the gate opened, letting you inside.

gabi kind of dozed off again while you parked. your father's butler opened the front door, walking over to your car and asking if he could help you with your bags. you handed him gabi's and your backpacks, watching him walk off and hand them to the maid, telling her to take them to your room.

back to gabi, she was dead asleep. you wondered how you are supposed to carry a kid, knowing she won't wake up.

"okay.. let's do this" with some struggle, you managed to place gabi on your back, she kept moving around to be comfortable, until she stopped and sighed.

you handed your car keys to your dad's butler, who was waiting by the door, slightly bowing and wishing you a good evening.

the girl on your back made it a bit hard to walk, but you thanked yourself for staying on your cheer uniform and not changing into your normal clothes, as you were wearing kitty heels in the day. with those, you would fall and trip now.

"miss smith, welcome back" your maid suddenly appeared, guiding you towards the elevator on the back of the house and calling it.

it took a few seconds for it to arrive, as it was on the garage, two floors under.

"thank you" you smiled at her, before entering the elevator, the maid pressed the button to the second floor, getting in with you to help you open doors.

"is there anything you'll need?" she asked "your father told us he will come at midnight and that we don't have to prepare dinner, but the cook did bake some cookies and pastries for you"

you nodded "sure, that's okay, i also want a two glasses of water take one to my fathers room and leave the other one in mine"

she nodded, the three of you getting out of the elevator on your floor. the maid getting ahead of your to open the door to your room and turn the lights on, before leaving to the kitchen.

she opened the covers for you and you placed gabi down, the girl was in her sports uniform, which wasn't very comfortable to sleep with but you dared not to change her clothes. only left her a pair of your pajamas on the edge of the bed in case she woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to use them.

you tucked the girl in nicely, sighing in exhaustion, this would have been so much easier if she was awake.

taking out a journal from your nightstand's first drawer, you wrote down a little note for her, so she wouldn't freak out by the unfamiliar setting in the morning.

the maid entered your room once again, now with a glass of water on a tray, leaving it next to the note you wrote, and standing by the door.

you took out a few more clothes and left the room, as the maid turned the light off and closed the door.

walking to your fathers room, you passed by pom pom's room, making sure he was asleep and alright. the dog was profoundly sleeping, tummy up.

erwin's room, was much more bigger than yours, like triple the size. neatly organized and all clean, no mess in sight. this was one of the things you didn't share with your father, he was probably the most organized man on earth.

you closed the curtains to change clothes, leaving the used ones on the dirty clothes basket, and jumped onto the bed, sliding under the fluffy covers.
