Chapter 5

"I do apologize for coming in uninvited, Your Grace, but I could simply not stand another moment away from you." I feigned an embarrassed attitude, placing my hands on my cheeks and bashfully looking away from the slimy gaze of the emperor.

He chuckled darkly, and beckoned me to come to him.

When I had found him, he was kneeled at his writing desk, seemingly writing something.

I sauntered over to him.

"I don't mind if you were to sneak into my room, little lamb. You are by far one of the most beautiful women I've ever laid eyes on." He smirked.

His hand snaked around my waist and he pulled me closer to him.

I took the chance to look over his shoulder, I could only make out a few words.

"...Bankotsu...Murder...Seven..."

I quickly laid my eyes on him.

"Thank you, your grace." I said.

"Oh, my little lamb—

'Yours?!' I questioned in my head.

"—I knew you would be in my clutches from the moment I laid eyes on you. Leave that filthy mercenary group and live with me." The man ordered.

"Live with you?" I asked, fluttering my eyelashes at him, that seemed to cause his heartbeat to accelerate.

'Good, let more of your guard down you filthy bastard, let me get a peek at your secrets!'

"Yes, my dear, live with me and I'll ensure all of your dreams turn into reality. I shall care for you, give you the world, and make sweet, tender love to you after~." He purred the last few words, making my stomach churn.

"I don't know...I'd have to think about it...Bankotsu and the others are like family to me." I spoke, hiding my face in my hands.

The emperor placed a dirty hand on my chin and lifted my face to meet his eyes.

"Oh, my little lamb...I assure you, I can give you more family than those greedy morsels, I can give you a family, you can bear my children, we can have the largest family in this entire country." He said, spinning me in his arms and caging me between himself and his writing desk. We were now on the floor, his body between my legs.

"That's a lot of children to birth." I said, uneasy suddenly.

His grip on me had gotten stronger.

"I hope it doesn't intimidate you." He said.

"Of course not...may I sleep on my decision? I can tell you in the morning..." I said, attempting to get away from this man.

"Of course, my little lamb. But first...you came here for a reason...and I intend to deliver~." He spoke huskily and licked his lips.

He licked my neck and I took the opportunity to turn my head to look at the papers beneath my hand.

The male lifted me up and placed me on the writing desk, I quickly scattered the papers to the floor, he didn't seem to mind.

"Your scent is intoxicating." He groaned, grinding himself against me.

I ignored him, focusing on the falling papers while this creeps face was buried in my neck.

The words finally all came together in a letter, he was writing to the emperor of the land we came here to purge at his request.

"Get your army ready. By 12 noon, Bankotsu and his men will be down there to try to take you down the day after tomorrow. Of course, they do not know we plan to murder him along with the rest of the Band of Seven. We cannot have any slip ups, this is our only chance."

I smirked to myself and quickly formed a poisonous ice prick in my mouth, I clamped my lips around the unsuspecting emperor and injected the ice prick in his veins.

"Quite the bold girl you are, little lamb." He chuckled, and I smiled against his skin.

"Indeed, your grace." I spoke, a sinister undertone in my voice.

The emperor's body then tensed, and he dropped to the floor instantly.

My suspicions were almost correct.

Only demons react to that poison, humans would simply believe that the area had gotten colder.

I frowned as I stared upon the emperor and his comatose body.

He'd wake up eventually, but he wouldn't have any memory of my pricking him.

I'll just say he fell asleep in the midst of the activity.

I snatched the letter he made and quickly fabricated another so he wouldn't notice its sudden disappearance.

After, I wiped my scent from the room and the castle as a whole and returned to the hut. My footsteps halted when I saw Bankotsu leaning on the tree next to the hut.

"And just where have you been, Miss Nightwalker?" Bankotsu asked.

I handed him the letter.

"Didn't feel like the emperor had our best interests in mind. He's conspiring to murder you all with the emperor of the land we're supposed to be killing." I said simply.

"Hm. Didn't expect that, good looking out." Bankotsu said.

"So, now I have even more reason to kill him." I chuckled.

"How exactly did you get this information? I don't imagine you just walked in his room and he handed it over to you." Bankotsu asked.

"Unfortunately, he was still awake, so I had to dance around in order to acquire it. From the moment he met me he seemed to be taken with me, so I used it to my advantage." I shrugged.

Bankotsu's eyes lowered back to the letter.

"And how did you do that?" Bankotsu asked.

"Seducing him, duh. I'm not this good looking for no reason." I teased.

Bankotsu chuckled lightly.

"Yeah, right." He squinted his eyes at me.

"You're just jealous."

"Of what? I'm far more beautiful than you." Bankotsu said, flipping his braid.

"Oh, please." I scoffed.

"You're the jealous one, little lamb." Bankotsu poked my forehead, using that dreaded nickname.

I rolled my eyes.

"Please don't call me that." I groaned.

Bankotsu laughed once again, and for once I felt a bit more comfortable with the male.

"I knew I made the right decision." Bankotsu chuckled.

"Otherwise you'd be dead." I crossed my arms.

"What? Aren't you going to say 'Me too' or something?" Bankotsu asked.

"No. Of course not. Why would I?" I tilted my head with a smirk.

"I'm hurt." Bankotsu frowned, holding his chest.

I punched his shoulder lightly.

"Let's go warn the others before dawn. That way we can conjure up a plan to kill both foolish emperors." I chuckled.

Bankotsu hummed as he followed after me into the hut.
