Rune woke up to someone knocking on his door. He growled as he got up. He walks to the door and pulls it open.
Tune, who was always making some kind of joke, stood before him very seriously.
"We have a problem. The villagers are in the forest with her family. They want her."
"There's no point in taking her."
"Don't tell me you mark her," Rune smirked and leaned against the door frame.
"Well, I didn't have much choice in the matter. Talco wasn't exactly up for a chat."
"Well, what do you want to do?"
Rune looks back at Hollis, sleeping peacefully.
"Take care of them. I'll meet you soon. Be careful."
"I'm a dragon brother. Forks aren't going to kill me."
"Cocky bastard."
Rune closes the door and walks back to the bed.
"Hollis wake up." She groans and turns on her back.
"What time is it?"
"It's past midday." She opens her eyes and lookss at him.
"We have to go. Your family isn't so happy with you being away from them."
"They shouldn't be back just yet."
"Well them and the entire village are in my woods."
She sits up, and he hands her a brand-new dress. This one was very fancy and pretty much showed off her assets a little bit.
She got off the bed, and they got dressed.
"I don't know what some people's problem is," Hollis muttered. She's 24 and they treat her like a little kid still.
"Cheer up." He kiss her making her blush. "Well, resolve this problem, and then we'll go somewhere."
"OK."
They left the house, and all they had to do was follow the sound of screaming and a not-so-happy dragon.
They came to a clearing, and Hollis's eyes at the creatures standing before her. There were trolls, orcs, fairies, and even mermaids in the water.
"Your Majesty." They bow down when they notice Rune.
This confused Hollis. Why were they bowing to Rune?
"Hollis!"
"Hi, Mom."
"What did he do to you?"
"Nothing. Why are you guys attacking people who haven't done anything to you?"
"They are monsters. They are abominations."
"Then consider your only daughter an abomination because I'm with them."
"You can't be serious!" her dad screamed angrily.
"Is there a smile on my face?" she glared at her father. She's tired of people trying to control her life.
"Think this over Hollis," her mother pleaded.
"I already did. I need to live my own life, and that life is with these people. They are different, yes, but they live and breathe like you and me. How would you feel if they were to attack your home with all your family and friends there?"
"She's right." She looked at Brandon, who was smiling at her. "We never get to know them. We just go off of what our ancestors said. Hollis is happy with this man and who am I to pull her away from that happiness? I'm with Hollis. I want to get to know who is on the other side of the border. Maybe I'll get as lucky as she did."
He ran to his sister and hugged her.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm glad you see the truth."
"I'm not losing you."
