A few days had passed since the storm. The morning sun was casting a soft glow on the room, pulling me out of my slumber. As I opened my eyes, the memories of the fight with Gurung and the fear in my eyes came rushing back. But they felt like distant memories now, a nightmare that had passed.
I turned my head to see Deva beside me, his steady breath a testament to the peaceful sleep he was in. A small smile played on his lips, making my heart flutter. The sight of him, so peaceful and content, made me smile. It was a sight I could get used to.

Later in the day, Deva, Varadha, and I were sitting at the dining table. Deva and Varadha were engrossed in a discussion about work. I listened to them for a while, then decided to intervene. "From today onwards, there will be no work-related talks on the dining table", I announced. They both looked at me, surprised. "Instead, we will talk about how each others day went and discuss family matters."
Deva smiled at me, his thumb gently stroking my hand. Words were not needed in that moment. Our eyes said it all. And as the sun set, marking the end of the day, I knew that we had overcome the nightmare. We had faced the storm and come out stronger. We had proven that we were not just a ruler and his subject. We were Deva and Aadhya, two individuals bound by a shared experience, by a promise of protection.
