"will, gia, time to get up!"

the girl was passed out in the corner of her room, silent and still.

"gia?"

joyce noticed her daughters state.

she had tear stains on her cheeks, her hands were still on her ears, and she was still curled in a ball in the corner.

"hey, hey, gia. what happened, baby?are you okay?"

the girl was shaken awake by her mom, she opened her eyes confused until the memories of last night flooded back.

"gia, honey, what's the matter?"

she tried to find words to tell her mom, but she was unsure herself of what happened.

it was like her voice was taken away.

she just shrugged.

"where's your brother?"

she shrugged again.

"okay, honey." joyce tried to seem calm for her daughters sake, "why don't you get dressed for school and have something to eat?"

"okay." she was quiet, joyce had almost not heard her.

third person pov

the girl had gotten dressed into one of her usual outfits, she walked to the kitchen table and sat down as she watched her mom panic, practically interrogating jonathan and her.

"he came home last night, right?"

"i don't know."

"you don't know?"

"i got home late- eric asked me to cover and i said i could, i thought we could use the extra cash."

"he was here." the girl muttered but no one heard her.

"giavanna? you two were supposed to be together!"

"i- i forgot my coat and he- he raced off trying to beat me home." her voice, barely audible.

joyce sighed, "okay. are you sure he wasn't with the wheelers still? that's a possibility, right?"

"mom." jonathan said.

"not right now! i need to call, karen."

"he's not with the wheelers." no one heard her.

"maybe he went in early? yeah! g, why don't you head off for school, take your food with you."

she barely touched her food, "i'm not hungry."

she left through the front door and got on her bike, making her way to school.

she met up with dustin, mike, and lucas at the school.

"that's weird, i don't see him." mike looked around.

"im telling you, his mom's right. he probably just went to class early again."

"gia, are you sure you didn't see him?"

"i-" she couldn't explain it, she didn't know how.

"if she saw him, he'd be here with her stupid." lucas rolled his eyes.

"he's always paranoid gursky's going to give him another pop quiz, i'm sure that's where he is." dustin defended.

"step right up, ladies and gentlemen. step right up and get your tickets for the freak show."

gia's pov

troy.

i hated troy, he was always picking on my friends and i. mike especially.

"who do you think would make more money in a freak show?"

"midnight."

"frogface."

"toothless."

"or the slut?"

troy went down the line, punched each of them until he got to me.

he raised his hand to hit me but i shoved him back.

"watch it, troy."

"jeez! what, you've got your panties in a twist because your gay brother is missing?"

"troy, you better learn to watch your fucking mouth, you hear me?"

"oh, so he is gay? it's not such a mystery where he's gone, he's probably ran off to find people of his own kind, fairies." troy started.

"it's not surprising, honestly. he might've even ran away from your wack ass family. your brother's a loser. your mom's a freak. your dad's abusive. and you're a slut."

my breathing hitched. he had no right bringing my father into this when he hasn't acted like a dad once in his life.

mike's pov

with an abrupt swing of her fist, gianna had punched troy in the nose.

i watched her, amazed, with wide eyes.

"i told you to watch your mouth troy. you don't know my family and i'm tired of you acting like it. my brother isn't a loser, my mom isn't a freak, and just because i don't fine you attractive in the slightest, does not make me a slut. if i hear you saying another word about my family, i'll make sure to be direct and straightforward when i tell people why i punched you the next time it happens."

troy's nose bled, his eyes watching the girl in fear.

james lingered behind, shocked and scared to he next.

"what are you still doing standing here?"

with that, they ran away.

lucas's pov

i watched as gia put troy in his place, stunned and in amazement.

i looked over at mike as he looked at her, totally whipped.

he looked at her as if she was the only girl in the world, the prettiest person he's ever seen. he smiled and watched her intently.

he was definitely obsessed with the girl.
