chapter one!a hum in the dark is all cassidy parker could hear. the darkness had taken over the room she had been in. she had no memory or any ideas of where she was or what she was doing. the blonde reached her hands out feeling around for anything to aid her in finding out where she was, or at least helping her see.
running her hand across a metal rack she yanked her hand back quickly, the cold immediately took over her. cautiously walking around, the girl ran into a stack of crates.
"ouch, what the hell." she spoke aloud.
stepping forward more, the blonde ran into a wall, covered in ice. she ran her fingertips across it. the cold burnt into her skin. despite the burning sensation her fingers held, she continued to run her hand across the wall, desperate to find some switch.
after a few moments her hand had reached a door handle. upon feeling it she immediately shook it, trying to get the door open. shaking the handle more and more she realized she was locked in.
the hum began to get louder as the air began to get colder.
"no, no, no." she cried, recognizing her location.
the freezer.
she balled her hands into fists and began to pound on the door. the cold metal burnt into her hands, but she was determined. adelaide was going to get herself out of the freezer. amongst more of the banging she began to scream.
"help me!" she cried, slamming her hands into the door.
"please, help!" she screamed.
freezing, the blonde began to see an image in her head.
...
"help me!" cried the girl. the freezer light had been on and the blonde was surrounded by boxes of meals for the school lunches to come.
her heart was racing. she attempted to step forward before being tugged back by her dress. the fabric began to stick to the frozen ground. she balled up the fabric in her hand and ripped it off the icy ground.
stepping towards the door she began to bang against the door. she slid her heel off and attempted to use it to pry the handle open. the heel broke off and thudded to the ground.
"shit!" she cried.
"someone please help!" she screamed, a rasp in her voice had taken over, cutting out her screams.
she pounded on the door with her fists, feeling the icy burn and the forming of bruises, she felt the warm tears fall down her face.
...
banging on the freezer door and screaming she eventually heard a voice back. "hold on, we're going to get you out!" the man's voice yelled back at her. she heard banging on the other side of the door and a loud thud on the ground.
for what felt like ages, she heard the handle keep shaking as the person on the other side kept attempting to get the girl out.
"i'll be back, give me a second to grab someone!" the voice hollered back.
"what? no!" she cried hitting the door. she heard his footsteps running away and she sighed, aggravated.
she slid down the metal door and brought her knees to her chest. laying her head in her arms. she let the tears fall and held onto herself for warmth.
the blonde quickly stood up before as she heard two men speaking. "i'm back! and i brought help." spoke the original voice.
"okay, get me out!" she hollered, wiping the tears from her eyes before they could freeze.
cassidy heard more jiggling of the handle and finally one more big thud before the door burst open. she stepped forward, tripping on the broken heel and was caught by two warm hands.
"oh my god!" she cried, wrapping her arms around whoever caught her. "thank you so much!" she spoke, as he wrapped his arms around her.
the dark haired boy looked over at the one in glasses in confusion, holding onto her before she pulled away.
"you're freezing." he spoke, sliding off his jacket and wrapping it around the girl.
"thank you..." cassidy expressed, looking at the boy as she slid her arms through the sleeves. she stared at the boy in confusion. she knew she had seen his face somewhere, she just couldn't quite place it.
looking down at the letterman jacket, she noticed the number on the sleeve, 57.
she quickly looked up at the boy and raised her eyebrow. "where did you get this?" she demanded, knowing the letterman jacket was supposed to be behind glass.
the two boys looked at each other before they looked back at cassidy. "that is my letterman jacket." he stated, cautiously.
the blonde shook her head and pointed at the number on the sleeve. "no, this is wally clark's jacket. this should be in the memorial." she spoke, glaring at the boy.
reaching his hand out, he smiled at the girl. "i'm wally clark." he introduced.
"no that's impossible." cassidy swatted the boy's hand away. "you can't be wally, wally's dead." she spoke before glancing at the boy in glasses and 90's fashion.
"right? that's impossible?" she asked, looking at the boy for validation.
"my name's charley,"
"it's nice to meet you." he spoke, stepping forward and reaching his hand out.the blonde cautiously shook it before looking back at wally. "cassidy." she spoke to the boys. wrapping her arms around herself and holding in the heat from the jacket she glanced at the freezer and noticed a figure lying on the floor in cassidy's prom dress and crown.
looking down at her dress and feeling her crown on her head she snapped back at the boys. "who the hell is that?" she spoke, tears filling up her eyes. wally walked up to the girl and wrapped his arm around her.
"cassidy, i hate to break it to you..." he spoke, "...but i think you're dead."
