LUCYS POV:
the scent of George's cooking filled the air. The smell of cinnamon and sugar creating a  tantalising aroma. As I came down the stairs I saw lockwood. He was sitting at the table doodling on the thinking cloth, his ruffled dark hair falling over the left side of his face. the morning light beamed on his face creating a golden glow, as the sun shined in his deep brown eyes he carried on drawing the what looked like blueprints of a buil- "lucy?" said George with a grin on his face.  "oh! hi george" I let out an nervous laugh as I felt myself blushing, he must of noticed me staring at Lockwood. "morning Luce"
"Lockwood have we got any cases this week?"

I said, trying to ignore George and act like nothing had happened, even though my face said otherwise.
"Just one tomorrow night on princedale road, the ghost is a type two so we will need to buy some more flares and iron fillings as were almost running out."
a shiver went down my spine, but I brushed it off and focused on more important things
"George go get some flares and iron fillings please"
"What why me?"
"oh sorry George I'll go do it even though I'm really busy and need to buy food and you don't" I then flashed him a sarcastic smile
"No need to be sarcastic Lucy it's very unprofessional"
"oh fuck off George!"
before I could insult George again Lockwood stopped the bickering from continuing
"George you go buy the iron fillings and Lucy you go and do food shopping"
I glared at him, I think he got that I was pissed off and was not going to get told what to do
"Please?"
before I realised my mouth was already answering despite how annoyed I was
"Fine, let me at least get ready first I can't go looking like this, I only woke up a minute ago"
"more around 15 minutes actually"
"oh shut up George!"
I made my way up the creaky oak stairs to my room, i then changed from my oversized jumper and shorts into a black skirt, navy hoodie and my combat boots, I tied my laces, looking at all burns on the boots and the new ones I got from a salt bomb that was badly thrown (by George) I made my way back downstairs, grabbed the crumpled up shopping list and shoved it into my pocket. I said goodbye to them and left. As soon as I stepped outside a cold breeze replaced the warmth I was once in, suddenly I was grateful for my jumper. as I began walking down the street I felt a drop of cold water hit my head, rain, great. My mind flooded with thoughts about the upcoming case, something felt off with princedale road, but I was probably just overthinking it. My mind drifted away from princedale road and started thinking about someone, a certain someone with dark hair and a tall figure.
——————— time skip :) ——————
By the time I arrived at the shop my hair had gone wavy and my clothes were drenched from the rain. I went inside and brought; biscuits, tea bags, scones, bread, specifically red apples, baking ingredients, a new notebook and orange juice. I began walking down the street again, the familiar sight of houses and concrete paths appeared In front of me yet now water drops were running off the roofs and the concrete was darker.

I arrived back at Portland row, my arms slightly aching from carrying the shopping and my hair wet from all the rain. Lockwood was sitting in the library reading a magazine and George was cleaning the kitchen. George cleaning was a funny sight as he wore a frilly apron and gloves, it really added to his mum of the house persona. I placed the white bag on the table and made my way upstairs, I needed sleep.

LOCKWOODS POV:
as I heard the sound of footsteps going up the stairs I finally dragged my mind away from the magazine and got up to put away the shopping as I know Lucy didn't other wise I would've heard the opening and closing of cupboards . As I put the items away I came across a notebook, Lucy must of forgot about it. I then began to make three cups of tea. I'll take up a cup for Lucy.

As I walked up the stairs carrying Lucy's notebook and a mug of tea my stomach flipped, and my heart raced, why was I feeling nervous? It's only Lucy, it was probably just about the case later. As I got to Lucy's door I gently knocked
"Luce?"
no reply, she had probably fallen asleep, I said her name one last time
"Lucy?"
"one second" she replied in a tired voice, I felt bad for waking her up, I hadn't really thought about it but she needed to get ready for the case anyways.

LUCYS POV:
The sound of Lockwood's voice dragged me out of my sleep, I got out of my warm bed and walked over to the door, a rush of cold wind blowing over me, as I opened the door I was greeted by a comforting smile and the smell of English tea
"Sorry for waking you up Luce, I found this notebook in the shopping bag and I thought you might want it, I also made you a cup of tea"
he smiled

"oh, thanks and it's fine I can't sleep for to long anyway we need to prepare for the case"
I took the warm mug of tea in my hand smiled a Lockwood and went back into my room.

GEORGES POV:
I heard Lockwood come down the stairs as I put my rubber gloves away.

"George, did you manage to get the iron fillings and flares earlier?"
"Yeah, I also got some salt bombs just because we were running abit low"
Lockwood walked off, probably going to do rapier practice. Me on the other hand had to do some research at the archives so we knew what kind of case we were walking into later.

LUCYS POV:
I heard the front door shut as I made my way downstairs, George was going to the archives, I'm not gonna lie I'm kind off happy he's going because this case gives me a weird vibe. I needed to do some rapier practice as we hadn't had a case in a couple weeks, and my skills were a little bit rusty.

As I made my way to get started I could hear the sound of rushing footsteps. I opened the door and my eyes fell on Lockwood, his hair messy and face slightly red from practice yet he still looked perfect. Dragging me away from my thoughts was the sound of metal clashing with the floor
"Lucy you could've atleast said something you made me jump"
"oh yeah sorry"
"you okay Luce, you seem distracted?"
I couldn't stop thinking about the case later and how something felt wrong about it but I couldn't tell Lockwood he would start worrying and that's the last thing I need right now
"um yeah I'm fine just tired"
that came out less convincing then it sounded in my head. I picked up a rapier and started swinging at the targets. Out of nowhere Lockwood hit my rapier and knocked it out of my hand, thrusting his rapier at me and I carefully dodged I soon found myself up against a corner, Lockwood's face close to mine
"I think it's safe to say I win"
"I didn't know we were competing, Antony"
The tension in the air was so thick it could be cut with a knife, before things became more awkward George came rushing through the door
"Lockwood, Lucy I found out something important about the case get up here"
I rushed up the stairs, eager to know about the case.
"Tell us then!"
"ok Lucy no need to be so pushy"
I rolled my eyes and turned to face Lockwood who was staring at George's notes about the case
"Lucy if you want to know that bad stop looking at Lockwood and look at the notes instead"
I walked over to his notes

"Tell us then!""ok Lucy no need to be so pushy"I rolled my eyes and turned to face Lockwood who was staring at George's notes about the case"Lucy if you want to know that bad stop looking at Lockwood and look at the notes instead" I walked over t...
