Face in the Mirror

staring in the mirror
I see eyes dull and sad
I once believed they were blue
now the grey contrast is so stark
your ominous shadows look like cooling shade

staring in the mirror
I see a row of yellow teeth
stained with the lies I tell
each one like hot coffee down my throat
you tell me to drink up and smile

staring in the mirror
I see skin made of paper
your inky words leave potent bruises
each one soaking into me
and covering what color remained

staring in the mirror
I stare back at me
I tell myself "you're worthless"
cover my bruises
drink my coffee
and smile
