I was running.

Running away from the fire,

away from the horror,

away from the death.

My heart was pounding,

pounding,

pounding,

a bassline in the song of tragedy around me

The echoing screams like arpeggios falling down my spine.

In the edge of my vision I saw the light searing into my eye, drawing ever closer

but I kept running.

I knew it was too late but  kept running

I knew I would die but I kept running

But as that blinding light came closer

and closer,

and closer,

and closer,

I accepted the truth.

Every molecule in my body roared at me to keep going

but I turned

faced the light

and let it take me.

ALTERNATE ENDING

(kind of)

I accepted the truth

with bloodshot eyes I looked around at my life for the final time

and I turned

faced the light

and let it take me.
