Hua Cheng was supposed to be asleep. How could he though? His beloved was sleeping so soundly next to him. How could he sleep when after 800+ years of being Xie Lian's most devoted follower, and his one true love, actually confess his love back to him?

It seemed impossible, but here his highness was, sleeping ever so soundly next to him after admitting the truth that he reciprocated his feelings towards the oh-so hopelessly-in-love Ghost King. How could His highness, the crowned Price of Xianle ever love this pathetic and disgusting man?

As if sensing this dread from the man lying next to him, Xie Lian stirred in his sleep and turned over, facing his stressed lover. Hua Cheng did not notice this, as he thought that it was just Xie Lian turning over in his sleep.

Xie Lian only worried about his lover. Hua Cheng treated himself so unfairly and only belittled his own mind. Xie Lian knew that Hua Cheng was a strong man that deserved the world and more, and he tried to prove that everyday that he had with his Ghost King.

"My heart, what has you so troubled?" Xie Lian whispered into the darkness, only the light of the moon and stars shone through the holes in his shrine.

Hua Cheng looked over at Xie Lian and only thought that he had troubled him. "I'm sorry, Gege." If there had been more light, Xie Lian would have saw the tears starting to form.

"Don't apologize, my dear," still whispering, Xie Lian reached out into the darkness and started messing with Hua Cheng's long strands of hair. "I know not of what goes on in your beautiful, yet dark mind, but whatever it is," he took a long breath and shuffled closer. "Whatever troubles you, my heart, know that I am here for you, and that won't change. If you think you are not worth my love and praise, it is I who is unworthy of yours. However, I will make all your sorrows go away."

Hua Cheng was taken aback by this. Never, in all of his time -and that has been a long, long time- has he been told such beautiful words. "But.. Gege..." and this has started the tears to form only faster. He was a Ghost King, one of the strongest, yet here he was, on the verge of tears from the smallest form of love.

"There are no buts, my heart." Xie Lian sat up and leaned over to his lover. "Now, let me cast your worries away." And he leaned down, tucked his hair behind his ear, and gave him a soft and tender kiss.
