Darkness. Everywhere.
This is not a situation for the faint of heart. Here, fear reflects darkness like hope reflects light. So, believe me when I say there will be no light. It is like nothing you have ever know, the darkness is not some monster lurking in the shadows; it is the shadows. It hunts its prey like a lion does mouse- it is unforgiving in nature. A place where most would plead for the reaper to give them a quick death.
Bellatrix was not that kind of person...
The predator had found its new prey. It stalked her just waiting for the right moment to pounce. She was no stranger to the darkness, but she was yet to conquer what can't be seen.
Sweat trickled down Bellatrix's back trying to wash away her fear. Her legs trembled like she was on a tightrope. At any moment she could slip and fall. Every time she opened her eyes, the mirrors around seemed to become closer and closer. It was magnifying its power and making her even smaller.
She had had enough of this, the constant fear, the dread of knowing she may never escape. 'Let me out! You can't do this to me.' Bellatrix cried out frantically banging her bloody fists into the mirror closest to her. She didn't know how long she did this for, but it felt like forever. Her legs finally buckled underneath her from exhaustion causing her to collapse against the undented mirror. Her eyes became bloodshot in despair, 'I can't do this anymore, I am all alone.' She lent her head back and closed her eyes hoping when she opens them the darkness will be gone.
She opened her eyes a fraction to see a glimpse of light that shined through a crack in the one of the mirrors. Lighting the small room up slightly, banishing some of the foreboding darkness. She doesn't understand how it could have happened; she wasn't strong enough to break the mirror.
Before she could begin to relax slightly, a deep voice echoed. At the back of her mind, Bellatrix seemed to recognise that voice, but she couldn't place how. It was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. 'I wouldn't get too comfortable if I were you, little girl. You are all alone and stuck with me for eternity all because you are too weak to stop me. Tell me, why do you cry?' The sinister voice made the girl shiver violently and not from the cold. She couldn't hide the quiver in her voice when she replied, 'Because I am lost and I... I... I,' a sob rippled through her before she could supress it, 'do not know the way'.
The voice sneered at her causing a shiver to run through her spine, goosebumps settled on her arms like a blanket of comfort. 'How disappointing, you really are nothing.' Something so simple yet so painful should have broken Bellatrix even more but instead it woke a spark in her that she never thought she could feel in here.
With the sudden wave of courage running through her veins, she stood up with a fierce gleam in her eye. And looked into the darkness that surrounded her apart from the gleam of light that seemed to be getting brighter, 'No, you're wrong. I am more than ever will be. Now tell me who you are unless you are too much of a coward to reveal yourself.' With every word she preached, the cracks on the walls became even bigger.
Bellatrix was bracing herself for an attack, ready for the darkness to pounce and devour her. But it never came. Instead, the voice chuckled, 'Don't you see my dear girl, I am you. The deepest, darkest part of you that you always feared, until now.' The mirrors that surrounded her became translucent. She could see her reflection clearly, she looked stronger and showed no signs of how broken she had felt. The darkness that used to surround her had dissipated, now there was only light.
Now Bellatrix is as confused as ever,' I don't get it. Where are we?'
The voice was quick to reply,' We are in your subconscious.'
'So, none of this is real? It was all in my head?' Bellatrix asked almost mournfully.
'Just because it is in your head doesn't mean it isn't real. You annihilated the darkness with your own source of light. That was real, have faith in that'.
Everything started to disappear; Bellatrix was starting to wake up. The once terrifying voice whispered one more thing, 'Remember I will always reflect darkness and you can always reflect light. I will always be by your side little one.'
