Being a part of the Knight family can be something. 

You'd never be alone.

In one way or another, you'd be bombarded with a huge family that would be your anchor in every situation, that would be your Chicago.

That's what Ro felt, more than everyone else at least. 

As he stood in the background, watching everything unfold with his hands growing cold, he could only hiss to engulf warmth in his body.

He and his brothers had seen it all. 

The massacres of their fathers, the rage of their mothers, the ugliness of their packs, the times of defeat of their packs. The anger of a King, the mercy of a King, the love of a King.

He had seen the wrong side of human and Lycan nature, he had even done things to make others watch, being the new leader of the 3 Thorns in the species. 

Ro had seen his mate bond create a forbidden romance that forever altered his reality.

But he had also seen Molly being born, he had seen Zane finding her woman, he had seen Nyx grow a beautiful child and give birth to yet another son, now named Thanatos with her husband.

And now he was watching her.

A new sister in the family. 

Smiling, laughing, away from the tortures she endured all her life.

Also finding family in the people she played with.

"God, I hate chocolate." Ares muttered foolishly while eating his ice cream beside Ro, making the oldest brother squint his eyes shut from the internal monologue getting interrupted by the stupid reason of a child.

"I really wish I had suffocated him as a child." Ro cursed under his breath, his own ice cream getting over in a short while, throwing away the sticks with a chuckling Dion as they watched their lethal parents play ball with Azalea.

Dion sighed happily, finding the lethal trio of Rose Brothers get along with her just fine.

"Are you going to tell Aiden about Katy?" Dion nudged Ro on the side, not getting a strong reaction. 

Ro could only watch his father smile at Azalea as well. 

It had been so long since he saw his father smile in the family with someone besides his wife and his sister, Sofia.

"Telling him about Katy is not the problem," Ro muttered with a small shiver, his eyes wandering to 2 men entering the grounds with guns, finding a new person approaching the enjoying throng near the pack house gardens, and widening his eyes after seeing who it was.

The brothers froze. 

Recognizing who the person and the men following them were.

It was the hurricane and her twins, Kyle and Nyle.

And Ro gulped.

Azalea giggled delightfully after getting chased by Chase and his husband Ben in a fit of a game, trying to keep watch of the other Rose family members as they pursued her on a run, her heartbeat accelerating with a beaming grin on her face.

They went after her like she was a prize, while she easily outmanoeuvred them.

"BITCH! WHY YOU SO FAST?!" Ben cursed behind her, his body kick-starting again as he couldn't catch her, making her laugh aloud.

"YOU'RE JUST SLOW!" Azalea shouted back, her little legs taking off like a racecar. 

Ben's eyes twitched mid-run.
