Gabriela's POV:
A few weeks had passed since the first time Isabelle got detention and I cleaned out her cut. I thought she would break after that first time and never disobey the orphanage directors again, however I couldn't have been more wrong. Isabelle seemed to just ignore the rules here and just do as her parents taught her. I was kind of glad for that, since it meant she wouldn't become one of the orphanages’ puppets but I was also worried. Would she last much longer? I had started to trust her and wanted tell her my plans to escape this horrible place, but i was worried, I had never really shared something like this before. I usually just kept quiet and went on with my day, barely making any conversation with anyone. Of course, I sometimes talked with my peers, but that was just random small talk, nothing that was in any way, shape or form important. People here rarely had any important conversations, it was very dangerous to do so since you never knew if they were actually on your side or if they would rat you out as soon as you turned your back. But I had a feeling I could trust Isabelle, and it would be nice not to be alone in this for a change. So I decided I was going to tell her the plan tonight after she got back from her usual detention.
I was surprised Isabelle could survive these detentions with how brutal they were but I paid no mind. She was a lot stronger than she looked with both physical strength and will power, which was good. So I simply waited for her to come back from detention and cured her cuts and bruises. All these years living in this place has certainly taught me a lot about first aid.
When Isabelle finally got back, as usual, I was waiting for her with an open first aid kit. As I was cleaned her wounds I started to tell her about my plan. "Umm hey Isa, you know know the papers that you saw when you first got here. The ones I said were homework papers?"
"Yeah, why?" she asked slowly.
"Well they aren't homework papers." I said while looking underneath my mattress for the papers.
"No shit Sherlock" Isabelle answered sarcastically, "I knew they weren't homework papers, I'm not stupid".
"Then why didn't you say anything?"
"Because" she shrugged, "It's not for me to know. They are your things and you can choose whether you want to tell me or not."
“Okay, well I decided to tell you what is on those papers. But you better promise not to tell anyone. This is literally a life or death situation.”
“Umm, okay. I promise.” Isabelle responds quietly.
I could tell she was quite scared to find out what was on those papers, especially since I said it was a life or death situation. However, I also knew I could trust her, so I accepted her promise and got the papers from under my mattress and handed them to her.
“They are my plans to escape this hell hole and I have decided to let you join me. If you want to of course.” I explain while Isabelle reads the papers over.
“Are you crazy?” Isabelle asks, raising her voice in order to manifest her excitement. “Of course I want to escape this place! Why on earth would I want to remain in a place where I am beaten until i reach the brink of death?”
And with that said we sit down and perfect our escape plan.
