Rose hummed along to a muggle song that was blasting out her stereo. She threw her stop sign red hair into a high pony tail and continued to read her book. She tapped her foot to the beat of the music and flipped the page. She was at full peace for maybe the first time this summer. No one was home. Her little brother, Hugo wasn't annoying her. She sighed. She was at complete bliss.
"ROSE!" her little brother yelled bursting threw her door carrying her cat in his hands.
Never mind.
Her electric ice blue eyes looked up to her thirteen year old brother holding Fred, her tabby cat in his scrawny arms. She marked her page and turned off her stereo. She crossed her arms. "Hugo. You're suppose to knock." She scolded. Fred made a hissing noise as Hugo squeezed him. "Put him down!" Rose shrieked. Hugo dropped the creature and Fred immediately ran under the bed. Hugo stuck his tounge out at the cat. Rose rolled her eyes and waited for Hugo to say something. He didn't. "Is there something you need!?" she snapped. Hugo shook his head and walked in to her room and sat on her blue carpet. Hugo looked around and wrinkled his nose.
"Why can't you be like most girls and fill your room with clothes and shoes?" he asked picking up one of the many books that was on the floor. She shrugged. He dropped the book and it made a 'thud' on the ground. She glared and hit the top of his head.
"Stop being mean to my books!" said Rose. He rolled his eyes.
"So why didn't you come with us?" asked Hugo.
She scoffed. "And listen to Victorie talk about her wedding again? No thanks."
Hugo nodded thoughtfully. He stood up and stepped over the books. And he looked at Rose. "Try a bookshelf." She pointed to the bookshelf behind her that was full since 1st year. He shook his head as off disappointed. "Jeez Rose." He left.
She returned to her bed and put the stereo on again. She opened her book and resumed her reading. At peace once more. She was halfway done with the page when she heard. "ROSE! MUSIC DOWN!" her mother called from downstairs. She groaned and turned the volume lower. She tried reading again when her father call for her. "Rosie?" she sighed and put her book down to go see him in the living room.
"You're owls back" Her farther informed her tilting his head twoards the black owl tapping at the door. She walked over and let him in and it dropped off a single letter. She picked it up from the floor and looked at the front. She smiled. Lorcan. Lorcan Scamander was her boyfriend. He was son of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander. He was twin of Lysander. Or that's what she told her parents and most of her family. It was really from her crush and best friend. Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy. Lorcan was his code name. And the real Lorcan was happy to play along. Albus and Lorcan were the only ones to know about the code name thingies. They weren't even dating and Rose felt the need to do this. Her father's eyes flicked up at her. "Who's that from. You're redder than Aunt Ginny when she's angry." Rose laughed.
"Lorcan" Rose lie easily. Her father nodded once and returned to 'The Daily Prophet.' Rose bit her lip and walked over to her father. She took a seat next to him. The guilt of lying to him was killing her. She felt like her consieanse was a mermaid pulling her into the depths of the lake, taunting her. Making her feel bad.
"What's wrong Rosie?" He asked setting his paper on the coffee table and looking at her with concern filling his blue eyes. She felt the mermaid pull hard when he said 'Rosie' She was a dady's girl and that made her feel even worse. How could she disappoint him by telling him she was cruhing on her best friend Scorpius Malfoy?
"Dad," she started."What do you think of Scorpius Malfoy?"
Ron's face darkened instantly and he scoffed. "Terrible." he muttered leaning back on his chair. "The whole lot of them. Pure blooded prats."
"But Dad, what if he's not like his father and grandfather?" Rose asked.
Ron rolled his eyes. "Good or bad Rose, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"But-"
"He's SLytherin isn't he?"
"Yes bu-"
Ron made a disapproving noise. " 'Course."
"But so is Al!" Rose said more defenivly than she ment to.
Ron raised an eyebrow at her."What brought this on Rose?"
She closed her eyes and decied to come clean."Dad, I like Scorpius Malfoy."
He laughed. He actually laughed. He threw his head back and howled at the ceiling. "Good one Rosie! Yea, my daughter, fancying a Malfoy!" he said chuckling.
Rose looked him straight in the eye. "I'm serious."
Ron looked at her dubiously. When Rose stared at him, not a thing but serious written on his face his mouth dropped. "Rose. No." he said sternly."You haven't even talked to him before."
Rose scoffed. "Dad wheather you believe this or not. He's ALbus and my best friend." Ron's faced reddened. "We owl eachother all the time. I sit with him and Al at the Slytherin table for breakfast then they sit with us at Lunch."
"No Harry would've-"
"ALbus hasn't told him." Rose interupted.
"This is ludicrious. My daughter is not getting all buddy buddy with Death Eater Draco Malfoy's son."
"Too late. We've been friends since the train ride in first year." she admitted.
"This is bloody madness!" Ron yelled. "I don't believe it. I won't!"
Hugo walked in at that time. "Hogo?" Rose asked. "Aren't me and Scorpius Malfoy best friends?"
Hugo eyes widened didbe;ievingly at her. "Um... I shouldn't be saying anything." he said. Rose rolled her eyes. Typical Hufflepuff behavior.
"You can say it."
"Yes they are. Him, Albus, and Rose always hang out together. Once thay all went to Malfoy Manor when-"
"HUGO!" Rose yelled.
Ron's face turned into a glare."I'm not allowing this. Malfoy's and Weasley's don't mix."
"Dad-"
"Enough Rose." he cut her off.
"You can't do anything about it!" she screeched standing up.
"If I have to, I will. I will aparate to Malfoy Manor and speak with the blond headed barbie's myself." he said standing up too.
"No!" she yelled. "You can't do that. He will get in so much trouble if his parent's found out! Espeically Mr.Malfoy!"
Ron laughed darkly. "You think I don't know that?"
Rose began to cry. "Dad I-"
"What's going on here?" Hermione Weasley walked in hands on her hips. They explained the conversation to her while Hugo sat in the corner.Hermione smiled. "How sweet." she said. Rose smirked at he father.
He sputtered. "Sweet? Look! She's even got that same bloody Malfoy smirk!" Ron yelled pointing at Rose. She frowned. Hermione laughed.
"Oh Ronald!" she said humorisly. "You're too funny! I think it's nice and mature for Albus and Rose to put behind their parents rivalries. The rest of their cousins should follow the same route."
"They do." Hugo said. "We all hang out with Malfoy's and Zabini's."
Ron looked at Hugo. "Everyone!?"
"Yea, we're just not as close to Scorpius as Albus and Rose are" Hugo said.
Ron huffed. "On a first name basis now? Brilliant!" he said sarcastically.
Hugo shrugged. "I'm going to see Lily down the hall." he said walking out of one of the many living rooms in Grimuald Place Number 12. All of the Potter-Weasley's live here. Except the Grandparetns who lived in the Burrow.
"Well I think I'll write to Draco. I'll invite Scorpius for the remainder of the Holidays. Draco and I became friends when we bacame HeadBoy and Girl at Hogwarts." Hermione said. ROse squeeled and ran to hug her mother. She smiled and yelled.
"Thank you!" she ran off to tell Albus the news.
