1 week later-

I V A A N

It's been a whole week since I met Adira and apologized to her. I went straight to her that day, but she wasn't in the right mood, I guess, because the moment she saw me and our eyes met, she looked away, clearly indicating that she was angry with me. Well, I did wrong. I wanted to clear it with her the next morning but couldn't because since then I have been here in Himachal for my new branch constructions. But guess what?

Today I am going back and will meet her, and yes, I will say that-erm-sorry to her.

"How many more minutes?" I asked the driver, and he responded, "Sir, just 10 minutes."

I went through my emails because our new client, Kavya Thapar, said that she'll email me her conditions for the new deal.

Well, I hate her, but what can I do when my mother loves her? Ugh, God!

As soon as I reached the office, the first thing I knew was what I had to do. Without glancing at anyone, I went straight to her desk. I can't carry this guilt anymore.

It was vacant. Why? Was she still not on time? No, this time I won't judge. I went back to my cabin, or more like sneaked away under everyone's glances.

As I reached my cabin, I was greeted by my secretary, Tanvay, and he told me my day's schedule.

As soon as he finished, I asked him about the thing I had been holding back for so long now, "Where's Adira?"

"Sir, her mother passed away recently. She has been on leave for three days," he said. With a jerk, I stood up from my place. I can't even think about losing my mother; it gives me horrors, and she lost her mother. Now guilt is overwhelming me more and more.

I asked for her address. I know there should be limits between an employee and the boss, but when my heart goes against the rules, I can't do anything.

A U T H O R

He reached the address Tanvay told him, but who was he kidding? She wasn't there, as her friend Saanvi told him.

He took her number, and after hesitating for straight 20 minutes, he decided to call her. But no one picked up, and Saanvi also told him that she had been out of reach for the past three days.

He was worried. Why?

He wanted to see her. Why?

He knew what her state would've been, and he didn't want to waste any more time by not being with her. Why?

His questions seemed unanswerable at the moment. She had been lingering on his mind for the whole week. Maybe that was why he was so thoughtful about her. But what changed his extreme hatred and irritation towards her in a whole week?

Again, no answers.

He went to the address Saanvi gave him, where she supposedly lived.

"Please, be fine, Adira," he chanted those four words over and over again.

His phone buzzed, and seeing the caller ID, he wanted to decline it but just couldn't.

"What's this reckless behavior? Do you even know how important the meeting with the Thapars was? How can you be so ignorant? Our 50 crores are at stake," it was his father, who was scolding him rightfully because he had just gone out without informing anyone, not even thinking about his business.
