...Her life was gone. Her body sat unmoving, inside was an empty shell. A black hole sucking the light and life from her bones. Her mind was functioning at instinct level. Her three girls were all sitting with her on the couch in a hugging bundle of young hearts and arms. She couldn't move to take their affection. The phone in her clenched hand was already beeping from not being unconnected. Her heart was shattered with jagged peices puncturing her soul. She couldn't breathe.
Her girls were confused at her unresponsiveness and kept a hold of her. She finally blinked and took a small breathe before the tears that were building for the last fifteen minutes finally broke through the damn of stubborn denial.
"G..g..girls," she stuttered sniffing slightly. The tears continued to fall. Niagra falls had nothing on the power of her loss.
"G..g..girls, that was...the police...they," she hicupped and tried to hold in her sobs just a little.
"Daddy, he won't be coming home anymore," she whispered.
