Percy stalks his way up the creaky stairs to visit the oracle. When he reaches the top he sees a red-headed figure sitting in front of the oracle with a fox. Percy turned to leave.
"I know you're there Percy, no need to go I was just leaving." She spoke while standing up. "To let you know she's not in a talking mood." With that, she left. The fox hurried after her but not without looking Percy up and down. Percy was convinced it judged him.

He turned to the oracle "Hi." His voice cracked "I'm Percy. It's nice to meet you." He paused waiting for an answer but didn't get one. "I was told a quest wasn't a quest till you said so." he looked at her. "Which is weird considering you're a Halloween decoration." The oracle started to crack and move. "Oh geez." the oracle continued to move until it sat upright. "You looking busy I'll come back." He turned around but stopped and turned back around. The green mist was coming from her mouth. "Wow." He said taking a step closer. Well, that was until it showed his stepfather. "Come on."
"You should go west and face the got that has turned, and you shall find what was stolen and see it safely returned."

"The Oracle has confirmed what we expected, that this quest will proceed towards the underworld, where you will confront the god who has rebelled against his brothers." Chiron looked towards the eligible campers for this quest. "Hades, the entrance to Hades' domain lies in the city of Los Angeles." He looked down at the girl beside him. She was sad because Chiron didn't want her to go on the quest because he deemed it too dangerous. "This is where you will journey to. Time is short." He spoke wisely looking at Percy and then turning to the other campers. "I have selected our most compelling candidates from which you will choose three to join you on this quest and ensure we succeed." Without hesitation, Percy spoke up.
"Annabeth." Annabeth looked at Percy with confusion.
"Customarily, one waits to at least hear a name or two before choosing"
"This thing, Zeus' master bolt, we need to get it back right?"
"Yes."
"And it's gonna be hard to get, yes?"
"Extraordinary."
"And if the mission required someone to push me down a flight of stairs for it to succeed... you'd want someone who won't hesitate when they do it." Chiron thought for a moment.
"The first quest-mate shall be Annabeth Chase, now the others."
"That's what I need to talk to you about," Percy said turning nervously to Chiron. "Can we talk somewhere a little quieter?"
"Of course." The two walked back to the big house.
"I want to take Alemae and Grover." Chiron was going to say something but Percy didn't let him. "I know what you're gonna say. But you and I both know Alemae has to go on this quest. But you don't want her to because you don't want to lose her. Because she is like a child to you. But she has to go Chiron." The boy looked at the centaur. The centaur looked defeated. He knows she has to it's the only way.
"Fine."

Down at the pegasus field, Alemae sat on the well while Grover was shovelling poop into a wheelbarrow "I wish I could get you out of this." She said stroking Fie who was beside
"It's fine. It's my fault in here anyways." While picking up more poo. "Who did Percy pick anyways."
"The only one I know he's picked is Annabeth because after that he and Chiron went into the big house and I decided to come and find you."
"Shouldn't you be with the other campers eligible to go?"
"Chiron said he didn't want me to go because he said it's too dangerous."
"He does know you can handle yourself."
"Yep." Grover wheeled that barrow over to the next pile when they heard a shout.
"Hey." When they looked it was Percy and Grover was the only one to respond.
"Hey." he continued to shovel poo as Percy got closer. Fie looked him up and down before turning away. Percy was still convinced that the fox judged him. "Sorry I missed your selection ceremony, I've been, you know... shovelling his poop."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I guess Mr.D wasn't too happy you told me about my mom." Percy said looking over at Alemae who was looking at the tree on the barrier.
"No. No, he was not." Stopping shovelling poo for a second." So, who'd you choose to go with you."
"You two." Looking between the people before him.
"Haha very funny." The girl finally spoke up. "Chiron wouldn't allow that."
"Who'd you choose." The satyr in front of him said.
"I chose to two."
"Why?" The girl asked

"You will be saved by one who doesn't know what they are and you shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend, and fails to save what matters most in the end."

"I trust you." The girl gave him a 'Really that's all you could come up with' Look. "And... and, right now, nothing's more important than that." He saw his friend's face light up
"I'm gonna bring the best snacks."

"You're seriously letting her go. Chiron this isn't a good idea." Mr D shouted at Chiron
"She has to go. It's in the Prophecy." With that Alemae entered
"Why do you both fight like a married couple." That shut them both up quickly and they both looked at her offended. "What are you both arguing about." She said while heading into the bedroom next to the room.
"You can't go on the quest."
"Why not? I can take care of myself. I have been here the longest. Never leave. I'm always stuck doing the same thing."
"I know but it's dangerous."
"And I'm dangerous, I killed my mother 'cause she was mortal. I'm the reason my mother is dead." The girl was in tears at this point talking about her life before camp was hard for her. The reason the girl wanted to leave was that she wanted answers. Alemae wanted to know why she hadn't been claimed. Why she was the longest one there?

"Hey," Alemae spoke walking up to Annabeth who was standing next to the tree Thalia turned into.
"I didn't think they would let you come." she looked at the girl and her companion.
"Well so did I but I'm here." She smiled at the daughter of Athena next to her. "Let's go."
"The most powerful being in the universe's best idea to save his daughter's life... was to turn her into a tree?"
"She was the bravest demigod I ever knew. She fought valiantly and she met a hero fate."
"She meets a pinecones fate." Annabeth didn't take that lightly and Fie looked him up and down.
"Forbidden children are always in danger, even the strongest ones, even Thalia. And you are not Thalia."
She said looking at Percy with anger in her eyes. "Do exactly as we say." Referring to her and Alemae. "And maybe you'll survive this." She turned on her heels and started walking.
"Keep up." The red-headed girl said following her friend. Fie took one last look at Percy before following.

"I don't like that fox." The blonde said.
"Why."
"It keeps judging me." He said while walking. "Also do they think they are in charge?"
"Who'd you think would be in charge?"
"I guess I assumed we'd do a show of hands or something."
"Hero's quests are world-defining events. They have made and broken empires... altered the course of human civilization... changed the balance of power on Olympus. A quest is a sacred thing. And to be charged with one is to be in conversation with the gods themselves."
