(Y/n)

(Y/n) stood at the train platform, hugging her arms closer to her body. In the cold spring night, she was freezing. (Y/n) would never forget a jacket again. It was practically freezing up here on her own. She had been shopping for the upcoming month for her classroom.

Burling Elementary was on the rougher time of its town. The kids there weren't nearly as privilege as (Y/n) was used to. Some of them didn't get dinner the night before. Some of them were lucky to have school supplies. Much less a bookbag to hold it in. (Y/n) had a closet in her room that the children could go get what they needed. It stored food, hair ties, school supplies, jackets, clothes, etc. Anything she could get to help them. The parents were especially thankful for it.

"I thought that I saw you earlier."

(Y/n) snapped out of the web of her thoughts. Whirling around on her heel to see the man from last night. Zeus. Her heart hammered in her chest. Hecate would not like this. Hecate would be furious with (Y/n) when she learns that Zeus has found himself in her presence again. But did she really care about what Hecate thought? No. Not really.

(Y/n) breathes out a sigh and placed a hand on her heart. "You gave me quite the fright, stranger." (Y/n) breathes out.

Zeus smiles. "Forgive me, dear. I only wanted another moment of your time." He simply says. A laugh following the statement.

He was charming. His laugh was deep and warm. Playing like a note of music in (Y/n)'s ears. If Hecate has not told (Y/n) that he was Zeus, she probably would've never thought he was. He didn't come across as the god of the skies. He came across as a mortal. A charming mortal. But mortal nonetheless.

(Y/n) sighs softly. "Another moment of my time?"

Zeus smiles. "Indeed. You intrigued me last night. And I never got your name."

"(Y/n). It's (Y/n). And yours?"

(Y/n) found herself speaking without thinking. She found herself talking without her even wanting to. (Y/n) probably shouldn't have told him her name. But what's done is done. She'll think about this later on. When she's laying in bed thinking over the choices of her life.

"Zeus." He says immediately.

He didn't lie about his name? Did he not care? (Y/n) stared at Zeus puzzled. If Hecate was right, then they'll never stop running into each other. They'll never stop meeting. And eventually they'll be together. (Y/n) couldn't have that. She'll have to stop this right at the root.

"As in the Greek god?"

Zeus smiles a little too proudful. It almost made (Y/n) want to roll her eyes. He shouldn't be particularly happy to be the fuck boy of all the gods. And (Y/n) wasn't pleased with having to be fated with him. The Fates must be playing a cruel trick on her. (Y/n)'s life has had more than enough of its share of traumas. She doesn't need anymore to add to that wagon.

"Yes. My mother decided to name me after him."

(Y/n) hums. "Oh that's horrible. Why name you after the god who fucks around all the time?"

(Y/n) knew that would push some buttons. An insult right to his face? Surely, Zeus wouldn't take that. (Y/n) wouldn't take that and she was known for being the nicest person that has touched Earth's surface. (Y/n) isn't known for snapping. But had he said something about her, she just might have.

Zeus however laughed at her statement. "I hope you don't think I'm like him. We are two different people. I can assure you that."

Sure, (Y/n) thinks. Her (dark/light) eyes gaze over him. A soft frown on her lips. "I don't know you. So I can not say whether that is true or not."

Zeus chuckles. He pulls off his jacket as another cold breeze rushes over the platform. The jacket is draped over (Y/n)'s shoulders. Zeus doesn't step back as he finishes. And (Y/n) catches something dancing in his eyes. She feels a flame start to flicker. Her skin felt flamed. And she feared of getting out of control just like before.

"Why don't you get to know me? Then you'll see I'm nothing like him." Zeus suggests.

His blue eyes meet (Y/n)'s. It takes (Y/n)'s breath away. And it takes everything in her not to break her cover. Not to let him know, she already knew who he was. She forces her thoughts to be quiet. A loud mind means damage. It's best to have an empty mind.

"I don't know, stranger. I'm pretty busy." (Y/n) comments.

Zeus smiles. He reaches forward and tucks a curl behind (Y/n)'s ear. (Y/n)'s heart flutters. No. No. She can't fall for this. Not only would Hecate be mad, but the prophecy would come true. And she would bring the world to flames. That couldn't happen. She can't allow that to happen.

"We can do it right now, right here. You take the train every day?" Zeus wonders.

(Y/n) nods despite herself. "I like taking the train."

An amused smirk comes to Zeus' face. "Maybe you can tell me why. On our next talk here."

(Y/n) rubs the back of her neck. A soft sigh of exhaustion comes from her. The train was coming now. It's loud horn was blaring and the sound of its wheel against the tracks filled the air.

"I'm not usually out this late." (Y/n) says. Testing to see how far he'll go just to see her.

"I'll be here. Besides, you have to give me my jacket back. Stay warm darling."

With that, (Y/n) watches as Zeus takes his leave. He doesn't say anything else. And she can't seem to make herself say anything either. And then the train pulled up. (Y/n) had to go. This was the last train. She couldn't go home without it. She couldn't go running after Zeus. No matter how much she seemed to not want or want to.

(Y/n) slides into one of the many seats on the train. Her hands reach up to pull the jacket Zeus gave her. A soft cologne filled her nose. Woodsy with a hint of a floral scent. As if he stood too close to someone else. (Y/n) pulls it closer to her, her eyes shutting for a brief moment.

This wasn't good. (Y/n) couldn't be affected by him. She couldn't. She knew she couldn't. And she knew that Hecate would be angry at her. But some part of her didn't want to care. If it's fated, it going to happen anyway. What's the point of fighting it? The Fates said that it would happen. Nothing changes what the Fates say. So why is (Y/n) running from it?

Her skin feels aflame. Her heart is beating rapidly. And yet, (Y/n) feels calm. She felt calm when she was with Zeus. And the mere promise that he would see her again And made her want to smile. Maybe (Y/n) could just play along. Maybe (Y/n) could just go with it until it gets serious. Then she can break away from it and be done with the whole thing. That could work also.
