"Love?" The sound of Aaron's voice echoed in the room, pulling me away from the book I was engrossed in.
His voice had a certain warmth to it, a familiarity that always managed to make my heart flutter.
I looked up from the pages of my
book, my eyes meeting his."Hmm?" I responded, placing a bookmark on the page I was reading.
"I'm going out with friends tonight..." Aaron began, his voice trailing off slightly towards the end. His tone was hesitant, as if he was carefully choosing his words. His eyes held a flicker of uncertainty, a silent question hanging in the air between us. It was as if he was asking for my approval, not wanting to upset me with his plans.
I found his consideration endearing, a testament to his caring nature.
"Aww, okay, have fun!" I quickly responded, my tone light and encouraging.I believed in the importance of maintaining our individual identities, even while being in a relationship.
It was essential for both of us to have our own separate circles, our own interests, our own space.
I never wanted Aaron to feel like he had to give up his personal life or his friendships because of our relationship.
However, Aaron's next words caught me by surprise."Who said I'm going?" he said, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
His eyes were sparkling with a mischievous glint, clearly enjoying the confused expression on my face.
"What? What do you mean?" I asked, my brows furrowing in confusion.I tried to decipher his words, but he was giving nothing away, his smirk only growing wider.
"I'm not going," Aaron finally revealed, his eyes meeting mine. "I'm going to spend my time with you."
His words hung in the air for a moment, allowing the full weight of his statement to sink in.A warm, tingling sensation spread through my body, replacing the initial surprise with a wave of happiness.
The corners of my mouth curled up into a smile, my heart swelling with affection for him.
"You're the best, Aaron," I said, my voice barely more than a whisper. His sweet gesture was a reminder of how lucky I was to have him in my life.
I reached out to take his hand, our fingers intertwining naturally.
His thumb gently rubbed circles on the back of my hand, a comforting gesture that made my heart flutter.
As I looked into his eyes, I realized that Aaron was more than just a boyfriend to me.He was my best friend, my confidant, my source of comfort.
He was the one who understood me, who accepted me for who I was, flaws and all.
And in that moment, I knew I wouldn't have it any other way.
