Zeus

Zeus felt like he was on cloud nine. The talk with the angel from before had him feeling like nothing else. She seemed to have an effect on him like no other mortal or deity could have. And he didn't seem to mind it. It only intrigued him.

Zeus pauses as he hears a cackle of laughter. He turns to see the Fates. Three goddesses who see to it that every fate is woven out in a person's life. Zeus would never admit this out loud, but they were just as powerful as he was. Maybe even a little more. Besides, they put this wretched prophecy on him.

"It seems you have gotten acquainted with a mortal, mighty king of the skies." Clotho laughs.

Just like every other god or goddess, the Fates were able to change their appearance to fit their image. Usually, the three of them all took the form of old decrypted hags. Who startled mortals and who the gods avoided like the plague. However today they were distinguished women. All around their late thirties with perms in their hair and business suits on.

"I don't see how that's any of your business." Zeus remarks. His patience with them already running thin.

Lachesis laughs. "Hecate came to us and begged that the prophecy be changed. She couldn't bear the thought of her mortal daughter with Zeus. Isn't that right, sister?"

Atropos nods with a sickening grin. "She even begged us to kill the poor girl. What mother asks for their child to die?"

Zeus looked between of them. Confused and annoyed at the way they seem to be withholding information from him. He hated that they always talked in riddles. He hated that they always knew more information than he did. He was the king of gods for goodness sakes. He should know everything. However they won't tell him a damn thing.

"What are you three going on about?" Zeus questioned. His voice has grown dark and horribly tight.

Clotho laughed wickedly. "The prophecy has begun itself. Soon the king of gods will have a mortal lover."

The way she said it made it seem wrong. The words leave her lips in a sneer. Zeus felt an anger flicker in him. As if he had been insulted. In a way, he had been. That prophecy would never come true. It hasn't come true in a millennia. It won't come true now.

"Speak clearly. Don't talk in riddles." Zeus demanded.

The Fates laughed at Zeus. Clearly having fun taunting him. Zeus felt his temper shorten. His eyes glow with a pale blue fire. Somewhere in the mortal realm there'll be a storm brewing. A deadly storm. This is what happens when Zeus loses his cool. The mortals are punished for it. He couldn't punish the Fates. But someone will feel his wrath. Someone always will.

"You want us to talk clearly? Fine. There is no harm in it, is there sisters?" Atropos speaks.

Lachesis and Clotho shake their head. "No. It seems not. It's already written in stone. We have woven the thread. And only we shall break it."

"Indeed so, sister. And I shall not be cutting it. Will you?"

"I will not. I happen to like the way this plays out. It's befitting."

"I most certainly shall not! This tale is my favorite in a millennia!"

"Just say it already, damn it!" Zeus roared.

He was sick of the games they were playing. Making him wait for answers. He ought to strangle them where they stood. Or perhaps banish them from Olympus. Who would really care? Zeus was king. What he said goes. The others will learn to respect his choices. And the Fates will learn to obey him. One way or another.

The Fates smile grimly. "The prophecy goes as such. The king of gods and Lord of the skies will meet a mortal at night. They will fall madly in love with each other after first sight. But beware. For there's a secret need to be shared. If proven lover's scorn, the world will surely burn."

They spoke in unison. With an eery tone in their voices. Their hands spinned a gold twine of thread. The fate of Zeus and whatever mortal he is to belong with. Zeus wanted to rip it out their hands and snip it himself. But that would do no good. Only the Fates could snip that thread. Zeus had no power here.

"I know that already. Tell me something I don't know." Zeus demanded. The fury making his voice rough.

The Fates seemed to not hear him. As they continued on talking. "A daughter of Hecate and a mortal man given the powers of warmth has entered your life, King Zeus. It is now that the prophecy has unraveled. Jealousy and mistrust will lead you both blind. Beware of the words she speak. She is not like most of the mortals around."

Zeus falls silent. They couldn't be talking about (Y/n). No. She was just a conquest. Once he had fucked her, there would be no use of her. Sure it's taking a longer than he liked. But Zeus was willing to play the waiting game. He hadn't had this much fun in a while. And (Y/n) was so intriguing he could get used to her presence. To her companionship.

"You aren't saying that the mortal is (Y/n), are you?" Zeus questioned. All the anger gone from his voice now.

"The king of gods and Lord of the skies will meet a mortal at night. They will fall madly in love with each other after first sight. But beware. For there's a secret need to be shared. If proven lover's scorn, the world will surely burn."

With those words, they finish. The gold thread disappears into thin air. They look at Zeus blankly. As if nothing happened. Zeus was use to this. He had dealt with the Fates before. They are always reminding him of this cursed prophecy.

"It has been set in stone. I can't wait to see how it ends." Clotho states.

And then the Fates walk away laughing. Zeus stares at them for a long moment. Before heading to his own private chambers. He needed a moment to think about what just happened. What he was just told.

Zeus wanted to banish them for making such a prophecy. He hated this stupid prophecy. It only made him look weak. And his brothers love to make fun of him for it. No one would let him live it down if he had a mortal lover. Especially not Hera.

Although, Zeus couldn't find himself that mad if it had to be (Y/n). She wasn't insufferable like some mortals. She offered decent conversation. And gave insight. Plus her voice was nice on the ears. And her laugh was even better. If Zeus had to have a mortal lover, (Y/n) isn't that bad of a choice.

And besides, Zeus was the king of gods. He was the god of the skies. If he wanted a mortal lover, than damn it he could have that. He didn't need to listen to anyone else. He didn't need to consider their opinions. He didn't even need to consider their feelings to the matter. Zeus was almighty. He could do whatever he pleased without consequence. Who was really going to say anything to him?
