After I left Scott standing there speechless, I went back to the room to talk to Niall. When I walked in he just smirked at me.

"So, you decided to stay then?" he asked me.

"Yeah, I mean I really need a job to help pay for my mom's medication," I said trying to hold back my tears.

"Well, in that case, you're hired, you start tomorrow!" At that moment I couldn't believe if it was real.

"Really?!" I replied happily and he just nodded while smiling.

When I walked out of his office, I saw Scott pacing back and forth and looked relieved once he saw me.

"How was it?" he asked.

"Yes Scott, I am," I asked, still confused to why Scott had acted weird a while back.

"Oh ok, but just promise me one thing...that you'll be careful," I looked at him even more confused as to why he would want me to be to be careful. I just had to make sure to ask him later about his relationship with Niall.

"I promise, but right now let's go eat, I'm starving!"

Niall's POV

Monica, what a beautiful name for a beautiful girl, I thought to myself, as I was playing around with my pen. There was something about her that attracted me to her and made me want to know more about her. What a shame that she was Scott's girlfriend.

Scott, I despised him with a passion and he despised me as well. Oh, how I wanted to beat him up when I saw him, but I couldn't because Monica was here. I wonder if she knew about it. I doubted though, or else she wouldn't have accepted the job.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice that my dad had walked in and was calling my name.

"Oh, hi dad, how's it going?" I asked now fully paying attention.

"Hey, I was wondering if you gave the job to the girl that was here earlier."

"Yeah I did dad, she needed the job and I was more than happy to hire her, plus I did learn from the best," I replied to my dad. "Omg, son," he said.

"Scott was also here," he later replied. "Yeah, I also saw, it looked like he wanted to kill me when he saw me, but his girlfriend calmed him down and took him outside," he listened closely. This is what I loved about my dad, he had his moments when he could be full on boss, but he also had his moments when he was a friend to me and understood me.

"Hopefully, his girlfriend working here won't be a problem, I don't want the past to repeat itself again," I nodded my head in full agreement. The last thing I needed was for Scott to actually want to kill me.

"With her, it's going to be different," I said to him but mostly trying to convince myself. It was going to be tough, but I had to be strong.

Monica's POV

"Wow! I can't believe you actually ate all of that!" Scott said while looking at the empty plates in the middle of the table, honestly, I couldn't believe it either.

"You mean we because you also helped!" Although it was a lie because Scott didn't like eating that much because he had to watch his weight, which I still didn't understand. Every time we would go out to eat, I was practically eating for both of us.

"Yeah I guess we ate it all of that," he said smiling at me, but then looked at someone that had just entered the diner. Then, I guess the person was walking over to where we were because the next thing I knew they were standing in front of us. I looked up and saw Patty and then Scott's smile faded.

"Hey, guys! Fancy seeing you here," Patty said in a very cheerful voice.

"Hey, Patty!" I replied and was about to ask her if she was with a date, when Scott interrupted and said, "We were just leaving, right babe."

I looked at him suspiciously, and said, "I guess." There was something off about Scott today and I was going to make it my mission to find out why. Then, he just grabbed my wrist and pulled along with him, leaving Patty standing there.
