KATSUKI KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP WITH you and dabi, i mean, how could he not? you were more distracted lately, more focused on checking your phone in case you got a text instead of helping him with the girls like your job description implied.
"hey twinkle toes, your phone ain't gonna run away from you, help me with this" katsuki said as he walked toward you, making you look up at the blonde with a deadpan expression
"twinkle toes huh? it's been a while since you've used that one" you replied sarcastically, making the blonde scoff
you looked at the blonde and noted the unreadable expression on his face, you knew something was up with him and you had a feeling it had something to do with dabi, though, you didn't know why he was so worried about why you were hanging out with him. it's not like he would hurt you or anything.
"well i'm sorry, i just thought i'd save the pet names for your boyfriend" he replied, making you sigh
you stood up and pocketed your phone, walking to where the blonde stood. you stood in front of him with your arms crossed over your chest, looking at him expectantly.
he sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair before looking back at you; "look, i'm sorry okay? i didn't mean to snap at ya" he said, you nodded and bit the inside of your cheek, not sure if you were going to forgive him or not.
"you've been doing it a lot lately, katsuki, what's that about?" you asked
you could see that he was contemplating on how to respond to your question, it made you feel somewhat bad for him, but then again not really, you were curious for his response
"look, i know how he is, i've seen the way he treats people once he's done using them, i just want you to be safe, as your friend" he said, adding emphasis on the word friend
"okay, i understand, but i can take care of myself, i'm being safe, promise" you replied

"you're home late" your mother spoke as you closed the apartment door behind you
you looked at her and smiled softly. you kicked your shoes off and made your way over to the couch where she was sitting and you sat down next to her before replying; "i know, i'm sorry, i went out with a friend after i was done at the hospital" you apologised, smiling at her as you laid your head on her shoulder
she sighed and wrapped her arm around you, turning her attention back to the TV that was playing some reruns of a random 90's show; "was it the blonde one that always makes himself comfortable here?" she asked, making you laugh
"no, it's not katsuki, it's someone else" you replied, making her hum and look at you
"a potential boyfriend?" she asked and you shook your head no
then she went back to watching tv, though the expression on her face showed that her mind was focused on something else.
"well that's good then, i've seen how the blonde one looks at you" she told you, making you sit up properly and look at her
"how does he look at me?" you asked
"like he would die and kill for you"

that night you laid in bed, mind too occupied with things that shouldn't mean as much as it does to you, sleep wouldn't come easy with all the thoughts that entered your head. you sighed as you looked at the clock that stood on your nightstand '2:47' it read.
next to your clock, was your phone that was plugged into the charger, you sighed and picked it up. when you turned it on, you squinted at the brightness that illuminated from your screen.
as you unlocked your phone, two notifications popped up, both of them being from dabi. you ignored those though, instead, you opened your texting app and went to katsuki's contact.
you typed out your text, and with some contemplation, at 2:52, you sent the text that everyone dreads reading. you had sent the can we talk text.
