Chapter 41

"Is everything alright? You look worried" Rain remarked. Knowing that the new semester was approaching for Rain and fearing that their relationship could have a negative effect on Rain's already precarious academic career, Payu offered Rain to come to his house and review some of the subjects. Rain accepted it, hoping that it could be a good opportunity to look a little more diligent, despite his usual lazy attitude.

Payu gave him some of his old projects to examine them together, but after more than an hour of work, Rain was beginning to get distracted and quickly noticed that there was something bothering his beloved boyfriend. Payu sighed a little after he heard Rain's question, then he finally replied.

"My uncle would like to organize a dinner for the whole family, so that you can meet them... I didn't accept it yet, I obviously waited to inform you first. If you don't feel like participating, it is absolutely alright" Payu barely managed to finish the last part of his sentence that Rain already agreed.

"Yes, I'm happy to join you"

"Are you sure? You don't have to come if you don't want to. I mean..." Payu added, he feared that Rain could be afraid of similar events after what happened the last time he had a meal with Pete, however he quickly realized that his insistence on the topic could make it look like he was ashamed of Rain.

"I said that I want to come. I think I'm managing to get on your father's good side, so it shouldn't be that difficult if I have him as an ally during the dinner, right?" Rain responded as he was so excited that he couldn't wait for that special day. Payu was obviously surprised.

"Maybe you could talk to me a little bit about them first, people tend to feel offended when I get surprised, so I would be glad if I could get to the dinner with some preparation" Rain added, and so Payu started explaining some of the basic dynamics of his family. Everything seemed to work fine until Payu mentioned Kim and his family name.

Payu noticed a hint of surprise and even fear in Rain's eyes, but he decided to continue his explanation. Suddenly Rain seemed to understand the true purpose of that dinner. He remembered the sound of that name from when he was still a little boy. He remembered the seriousness of his father's tone whenever he mentioned it.

His boyfriend was still talking but Rain couldn't hear it anymore. His heart was beating faster and faster at the thought of his past being exposed to Payu during the dinner. His eyes started looking around as if they needed to look at something stable, his hand blindly wandered on the table, looking for a glass of water. Suddenly Payu noticed Rain's eyes going to the back of his head and he shouted.

"Rain!" then he grabbed before he could fall off his chair. Rain quickly regained consciousness and the first thought that crossed his mind was that he had to tell Payu the truth.

"Payu... you trust me, right?"

"Of course my love"

"You know that I would never do anything to harm you, right?"

"Rain, what are you trying to tell me?" Payu asked confused.

Rain stopped for a moment, he looked at the floor and covered his face, fearing that it could be already too late to confess the truth.
