Ella's mood was through the floor. The midfielder had woken up to the noise of their room door clicking closed. Her eyes opened to see the bed next to her empty and made. No sign that the striker had even been in the room.
She let out a heavy sigh, rubbing her eyes and turning over to see what time it was.
5:30 AM.
Dropping her legs to the ground she sucked air through her teeth sharply, feeling the pain ripple through her ankle. She looked down at her bruised foot.
'Fucks sake' she shook her head, her shoulders sinking.
The brunette made her self a cup of tea, running through her morning routine. Her mind running through the interactions she had with her best friend the day before. How full her heart felt as she could've sworn she seen the striker blush yesterday as she walked away from her on the training pitch. Maybe it was just her wishful mind playing tricks. But she wanted she to get stuck in the soft moment forever, rather than being given the cold shoulder by the blonde.
It hurt, she would be lying if she said she understood where the blonde was coming from. Yes, Ella had promised to text, but in the reality of things, the midfielder had been in the hospital for 2-3 hours, tops.
Her mind trundled through a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings. Finally plucking up the courage to text Alessia.
'Morning. Where are you? x'
Ella placed her phone face up on the dresser, making sure it was on loud before heading into the bathroom.
About a half hour to 45 minutes had passed. Ella had been checking her phone every 5 minutes to see if she had a response from the striker but there was nothing.
She stormed back into the bathroom to finish her hair, hearing a soft knock on the door. Her heart skipped, her brows raising in hope that it might be Alessia. She limped to the door as quick as she could, swinging the door open. Her face sunk again, it wasn't who she had hoped.
"Oh come on Tooney I don't look that rough in the mornings do I?" Mary chuckled
"Sorry.. morning" She greeted the goalkeeper solemnly, stepping aside to allow her to walk in.
"Do you want a cuppa?" Ella returned to the bathroom where she was pulling her hair into a ponytail.
"Nah mate, I'm alright, thanks. Youse coming down to breakfast?" Mary questioned as she walked further into the room expecting to see a sleepy striker. But was shocked when the blonde wasn't there.
"Yeah I'll come down with you now" Ella replied quietly from the other room.
"Where's Less then?" Mary walked back toward the door to the bathroom almost bumping into Tooney as she rushed toward the door.
"Dunno" Ella sighed, her demeanour dismissive turning back toward the goalkeeper. "Should we go?" She slipped her feet into her trainers with a small whine.
Mary wanted to ask what had happened but Ella clearly wasn't in the mood to talk about it.
"Yeah sure, let's head down" Mary walked out into the hallway, awkwardly scratching her neck.

The two headed down the canteen. They were the first there, the two women chatting about random things, Mary not once daring to ask about Alessia.
They were soon joined by others who were yawning and stretching. The mood in the room was relaxed. But Ella felt the absence of Alessia, kicking herself for not texting her from the hospital yesterday. In her defence, she never realised how much it would annoy her best friend. The midfielder started thinking back again to the way the blonde looked at her yesterday, settling into the fantasy that there was more to Alessia's expression than met the eye.
