I awoke to someone gently nudging me.

"Hmm?" I questioned fluttering my sleepy eyes. Carter and Harper were standing in front of me. Harper's freckled hand was on my shoulder.

"Come on! Wake up!" Harper whined.

"What? Where are we going?" I asked sleepily.

"Just come on!" Harper yelled as Carter pulled me out of my seat. We walked down the long bus aisle, which was now deserted, and descended the stairs. I looked up to see a giant yellow "M".

"Ughhh! I hate fast food!" I groaned.

"Don't worry, everyone does." Harper added.

"Yah, ever since that documentary in health class. I never want to touch a chicken nugget again!" Carter said.

"Yeah, well I'm getting a salad." Harper said.

"You do know that their salads have as much sugar as their icecreams sundaes right?" I said.

"Ughh, whatever. There's nothing else." Harper responded. I pushed the door and let my friends walk through before joining them again. A huge line was formed in front of us by our classmates.

"Hey isn't this cool?" The girl said in front of us. Her face seemed very familiar but I couldn't pinpoint her name. I think it starts with a "T". I don't want to ask her what her name is though because that would make me look stupid. it's Tri something. Oh, that's right!  Her name is Trinity! She had a matted Afro and acne splayed across her face. She wore comfortable skinny jeans, just like me, and  a striped top.

"Yah." I replied enthusiastically.

"It feels like we're in college or something, you know. It's like, we're getting our food and stuff..." She rambled as I zoned out. I couldn't help myself from staring at the oreo icecream that was displayed. Ohhh the crunchy oreos tossed delicately with the smooth creamy vanilla icecream....."Are you even listening?" Trinity finished giving me an annoyed look.

"Yah, yah." I quickly replied snapping my attention back to her.

"So answer my question." She demanded. I didn't know what to do. What was her question?

"Um...yes?" I replied somewhat questioningly.

"You think so? That's so mean!" She said.

"What? No, I mean no.......wait, what was your question again?" I laughed with embarrasment. She quickly let out a high pitch annoyed smirk and turned around.

"Wait what did I do?" I asked Carter and Harper. I smiled in confusion. They both smirked back. "I really need to get me an oreo icecream cup!!" I said oggling over the displayed icecream. They continued to laugh at my childish behavior.

"Okay come on, we almost up for order." Carter said gradually halting his laughter. We all seemed to sense our juvenile actions and began to straighten up.

"I hope we can get a table..." Harper trailed off glimpsing at her surroundings. All the maroon booths and plastic tables were filled.

"Hey, look there's an empty one." Carter exclaimed pointing to a forgotten booth in the corner.

"I'll go grab it. Order for me?" I asked.

"Yeah sure. I'm guessing you want your favorite?" Carter asked.

"Yep. Thanks." I said walking over to the booth. When I reached it, I sank into to the stretchy vinyl and pulled out my phone to check my messages. Only one from Mom: How are you? Are you homesick? Call me if you need me.

I smiled at how she spelled out every word. I quickly replied a good word and tucked my phone back in my pocket.
