Mella found herself laughing along with Henry's friends once again. They all accepted her into the group without questions, and Mella was actually enjoying the time she spent with them. The sun began to set on the group. As Mella looked up, she leaned against Michelle, who was currently playing with Mella's hair.
"Oh, it's getting late now. I better go home, guys." Mella said, gathering her items and preparing to leave. "Ay, let me walk ya home, Mella! Can't have a lady go walkin' on her own in the dark!" José spoke up, about to stand up from the bench. Mella quickly shook her head, smiling.
"Nah, I'll be fine! I actually don't live far from here!"
"Eh...If ya say so! But if somethin' happens, just lettin' you know I told you so, buddy!" José said with a chuckle. The group giggled along before saying their goodbyes.

She walked down the street, humming to herself. As she looked around the lightless city, she glanced up, admiring the array of stars that sparkled in the sky like glitter. She paused for just a moment...until she heard a thud somewhere behind her. Startled, she quickly rushed home, opening the door and slamming it shut without noticing.
"Hey Mella! How was your day with your new friends?"
Bethany poked her head out from the kitchen, a big smile on her face like always. Her smile made Mella feel at ease, and she smiled back, although more gentle. "It was alright. Luckily, they all weren't too harsh on me joining them, and we got along pretty well."
"Ooh, I just realized that this could be the chance you finally get a boyfriend!" Mella rolled her eyes jokingly at Bethany's words. "Oh please, who's gonna be interested in me? Besides, I hardly know 'em, why would I try to get with one of them now?"
"You know I like to dream." Bethany spoke through her giggles. Mella shook her head, mumbling, "Henry gives me this weird feeling anyways..."
However, despite her mumbling, Bethany overheard, and obviously, she got the wrong idea about what she was feeling. "You have a crush on him, don't you?!"
Mella's face lit up with blush, clearly embarrassed. "No I do not! Like I said, I hardly know him!" Bethany laughed as a response, saying "Oh I know! I'm just teasing you!" Mella sighed, smiling softly. She then joined Bethany's laughter.

A few months in, and Mella was once again hanging out with Henry and his friends. They were all at the Mall, sitting on a bench and chatting together. After a while, Henry's friends all ended up leaving, which meant it was just Henry and Mella afterwards. Mella couldn't help but suddenly feel....anxious.
What was wrong with her? Henry was such a nice guy, so why did everything he did feel off? She shook her head, causing Henry to glance over at her in slight concern. "You alright, Mella? You look a bit pale." Mella froze, looking over at Henry. "O-Oh! I do? Hah, s-sorry, I'm just- um, nervous is all!"
Henry raised an eyebrow, but shrugged and smiled. "Well alright then. If you don't feel okay, let me know. How about we go to that arcade we passed by?" Mella nodded, and the two were on their way to the arcade.
Henry looked over at Mella, taking in her appearance. Her hair looked so soft and smooth, her eyes seemed to almost shine like the moon to him, and her smile brightened his day. Stars, he fell hard for her. All he could think about was claiming her as his. He wanted her. He needed her. He—
Wait a minute. What was with those light scars? Since when did she have those on her face, and so many?? There was one on her forehead, her nose, and her cheek. How come he never noticed? He'd been keeping an eye on her and her habits ever since they started hanging out, like how she always seems to be nervous, or how she has slightly noticeable eye-bags.
He lost himself in his thoughts, overthinking everything he knew about Mella, until he was suddenly snapped out of it by her nudging him with an elbow. "Hey, we're at the arcade, and you've just been staring at me the whole time...are you okay..?" Henry looked at her and smiled. "Yeah, I'm fine!"

It had been only an hour as the two were still in the arcade. They had both been extremely competitive with each other, but they would just laugh when they lost. The strange feeling in Mella's gut had seemingly vanished, replaced with only happiness. The two were now sitting on a bench in the arcade, talking to each other.
Henry had suddenly stopped, his mind elsewhere. Mella began to feel concerned. What was he thinking? Was he okay? Was he doubting their friendship? What— Mella couldn't continue these thoughts, as Henry began to clear his throat.
"Uh, so..I've been thinking...We've known each other for- well, quite a while, and um..I was wondering if- if you'd uh- y'know..." He paused between his sentence, taking in a deep breath before continuing with, "g-go out with me..?" Henry nervously smiled, blushing slightly.
Mella was left shocked. This was real, right? She wasn't dreaming? Was this a prank? Why was her stomach twisting? Henry, having stood there awaiting her response, seemed to take her silence in a negative way, slowly frowning. "I-It's fine if you don't want to-"
"No no!" Mella interrupted him. "I- well, uh...Yeah, I would, uh- I would like to go out with you.." She fiddled with her fingers nervously, her voice fading. Henry stared at her for a moment before smiling and hugging her. She let out a squeak, hugging back after a while.
As the day came to an end, she had arrived home with a big smile and a bright blush on her face. She finally found love. Someone actually liked her! She didn't even stop to tell Bethany about it all, she just went straight to her room and squealed into her pillow.
