"And then - then - he was screaming for hours, Lola, hours!" Care rambled on the phone, completely losing it.

My chest got tight at the thought of Tyler in agony, essentially feeling every bone break and rearrange itself.

"Like, he was trying to hold himself back from hurting me and I had to get out of there. He was a wolf, an actual wolf. With orange eyes and grey fur, like those shapeshifters from Twilight! Can you believe that?" Caroline was breathless with her explanation.

I was quiet, absorbing everything. "Yesterday was the full moon, right? That's why he transformed?" I questioned. Caroline affirmed it.

"And every full moon that's going to happen?"

She took a breath, "It's supposed to get easier over time but Tyler isn't convinced. He said he wanted to die, he was literally dying."

Unease filled me and I shifted my legs. I took a sip of the iced vanilla coffee that I adored so much. The loud whirr of a blender startled me and I glanced at the baristas, bustling about to make orders.

My notebook was laid open on the wooden table with my textbooks next to it. I was working on homework when my Carebear called me.

"Rose got bitten last night too," Caroline quietly said.

"By Tyler?!" I exclaimed, almost jumping out of my seat. Other people around glanced at me oddly and I blushed in embarrassment.

"No, by this girl named Jules his Uncle Mason knew. Turns out, he was hanging out with other werewolves and she found out that he was missing. Jules came all the way from Florida and snooped around. Damon and Alaric tried to get information from her but she was too smart. She broke into the boarding house last night and tried to attack Damon but Rose got bitten instead. She's not doing so hot."

Poor Rose. Despite her kidnapping Elena and me, she really turned it around and helped us with what she could.

"It's lethal, right?"

Caroline paused before letting out a defeated mhmm.

I ran a hand down my face and sighed. "I'm going to see her and say goodbye then."

Caroline agreed sadly.

"I know Tyler needed you last night but you need to be careful with him. What if next time he isn't able to hold himself back?" I said, biting my painted nails.

"He wouldn't do that," Caroline quietly protested.

"Care, he's an animal."

She just huffed before mumbling a weak "whatever."

"Stefan's out of the tomb," She chirped. I smiled at that, "Oh good, how'd he get out?"

Caroline paused, "Elijah did it." I narrowed my eyes in confusion, "Elijah? The Elijah who almost killed the Salvatores and kidnapped me?" She hummed as an affirmation. What the fuck.

"Why?"

"He and Elena made a deal. If she works with him to take down Klaus, he'll keep everyone she wants safe."

I huffed in annoyance, "I swear, I do everything I can to help her, and she still goes off on her own and does things her way." I angrily took a sip of my drink.

Caroline hummed sympathetically and said, "I think we can trust Elijah. He wants the same thing we do, Klaus gone and all of us safe."

I took a second to process her judgment. "I mean think about it, how many times could he have killed all of us and it literally would not have affected him in any way?" I agreed there, he did seem to leave us alone despite it so easily to end us.

"Plus, he's run into most of us and he's been, like, actually chill."

I snickered, "I don't know if you can call an ancient vampire 'chill', Care."

She huffed and grumbled, "You know what I mean." She made an excuse to end the phone call, probably annoyed with me still giggling at her.

I kept in my laugh and started texting Stefan to check in on him when a voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Willow, lovely to see you here."

My head snapped up to see who said my name. I froze. Elijah.

Elijah stood in front of the wooden table, looking impeccable in his expensive suit and hair gelled back. He had an easy smile on his handsome face, not looking the least concerned.

"May I sit here?" He grabbed the chair across the table and waited for my confirmation. I could only give a small nod, still dazed at his presence. Elijah set down his coffee in a to-go cup, mindful of the notebooks spread out. He sneakily glanced down at my novel, Romeo and Juliet.

"Ahh Romeo and Juliet, a true classic," He grinned.

I snorted, "Let me guess; you knew Shakespeare."

He laughed. "One can only guess if they truly know someone, but yes I have met him several times."

My curiosity got the best of me. "Did he really write all of those plays or did he steal the ideas?"

He paused. "I would say; half of them are truly his original work and the other half took liberties from other playwrights."

"Interesting," I murmured. "I can't use you as a historical source in my paper though."

Elijah tilted back his head and let out an amused laugh, seemingly entertained by my questioning.

"Yes, I would say there is a slight issue in that." I smiled at his remark.

"You know, when you aren't kidnapping helpless girls you're pretty interesting." His smile faltered at my statement.

"I do regret what occurred, however, the Salvatore brothers did get their revenge accordingly." I cringed, remembering his dead self pinned to the wallpapered walls.

"I felt bad for you when you died. Like you didn't fully deserve it. Surprisingly, I felt safer in your hands than in Rose and Trevor's."

His kind smile came back in full force now. He looked me in the eyes and an understanding seemed to pass through us.

"I needed to get to you before Klaus did. I knew he would stop at nothing to make sure he had you in his grasp." Now was my chance to get real answers.

"Why does he want me so bad? No one can tell me, just that my bloodline is the reason."

Elijah hesitated and interlaced his fingers together. "The less you know, the better."

I rolled my eyes at his weak explanation and huffed. "I'm tired of that bullshit. Tell me now."

He looked up at me and a thoughtful expression filled his face. "What do you know about your family?"

I scoffed. "Only the lack of it. It's only my dad and I, my mom died when I was born. Parents were both only children, so no cousins or anything like that."

Elijah hummed. "What if I told you there was a whole other world not far from here? About an hour away, off of Route 34."

I narrowed my eyes at him, "Who's in the other world?"

"Everyone you have lacked in your life."
