"What could this kid have lost that was 'So Important' that I'd have to go get it  for him, like if you disturb the bears whatever you dropped should stay there. Am I right?" I asked my co-worker, sighing. "Because apparently if the sheriff's kid does something wrong WE have to fix it!" I continued.
The sheriff's kid had been messing around in the forest getting too close to a bear's cave, when the bear roared at him he ran and as he ran away he dropped something at the edge of the cave. So now 'I' have to go get it for him. I mean he shouldn't have been there in the first place, theres a TON of signs that say 'theres a fucking bear in here' and  'Go Away' like who ignores those.
"Well I mean it's the sheriffs request, you kinda have to do it" my coworker responded snapping me out of my angered thoughts, "Well, for your information, I wassss going to do it. I'm just mad about it." I say as I get up collecting my badge, hat, flashlight, and bear spray. As I make my way out the door I mumble a small 'goodbye' to my coworker.

I walk down a beaten trail, away from the ranger station mumbling angry nonsense the whole way to the cave. Looking at the signs as I walk there, once I was at the edge of the clearing around the cave mouth I could smell this awful stench. It smelt like rotten eggs. This made me think back to when I was younger. I used to love cryptids and the culture and stories behind the myths. With this love brought a lot of random knowledge about these things, one being the smell of rotten eggs means there is sulfur nearby and sulfur means demons or at least it is a sign of a demon being here. Now I was a bit anxious, for no reason at all. I know this shit aint real, the smell is just probably a leftover of something the bear ate. Though, as I got closer it did get much worse. The smell made my stomach churn, trying to ignore it.
I search the ground for this 'very important' bracelet. I spot a glimmer deep in the cave, thinking 'how the hell did he get it there'. Besides that, I grab my flashlight, flicking it once, then again, finally mashing the button on and off, still not greeted by its beam though. I shake it hearing no batteries inside, I sigh, jamming the flashlight back in my belt.

So with no light I walk in, swallowing down my anxiety and continuing on. As I walk it feels as though all light that was previously poking from the entrance had disappeared, as though it had been closed off. I got a bit uneasy so I pulled out my bear spray and un-capped it. Shaking it slightly, I continue on with only a few feet between me and the bracelet. I started to hear a weird breathing noise. It sounded almost raspy and held back, as though the person or animal was trying to conceal it.
I had finally made it to the bracelet so I reached down to grab it only to hear a shifting noise. Once my hand touched the bracelet it felt almost fleshy, as though it was made of loose skin or a tongue. I started to feel a warm feeling around my arm, it felt almost moist or humid. Though it was only around my arm, It felt weird. So I started to move it back to only feel something chomp down on my upper arm. I could hear a deafening crunch as my bone splintered under its jaws.
I reared back in pain, The breathing and humidity make sense now, I literally had stuck my had in its fucking mouth. Just to get that damn bracelet. I had been stood there in shock for a few seconds, but that was plenty too much. So I ran, but as I did I could hear whatever it was traipsing behind me. As I ran I tried to collect my thoughts, 'The Bearspray!' I thought. It was all i had, So i shook it and sprayed until the can was done. Then I chucked the can at whatever was following me. I heard a "tink" then a loud screeching letting me know I had hit my target. So I kept running and running, thought I'd never get to the cave exit, it felt as though I was running a never ending loop.
So, I slowed, I had blood spraying out my upper arm and all my thoughts were foggy. My vision started to blurry as I saw the bracelet hanging in front of my face. I grabbed for it, but it flew upward like it had been snatched away before I could get my mitts on it. I then started to get an all too familiar warm almost moist feeling around my head and neck. The last thing I heard was the sound of my spine being bitten in half and ripping flesh.
