Chapter 1: First Encounters

The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the manicured lawns of Lincoln High School. As students squeezed through the halls, laughter and chatter filled the air, signaling the start of another eventful day.

Amidst the bustling crowd, Aisha Harris stood tall and confident, her beautiful brown and black locs swishing around every step. Dressed in the latest fashion trends and exuding an air of effortless grace, she usually got attention wherever she went. With a flick of her wrist, she adjusted the strap of her handbag and flashed a dazzling smile at her friends, who walked beside her like any normal friends would do.

"Hey, Aisha, wait up!" called out a familiar voice from behind.

Turning around, Aisha's gaze fell upon Carloe Santos, the self-proclaimed prince of sarcasm and pettiness. With his tousled black hair and mischievous grin, he was the definition of charm and charisma, effortlessly drawing people into his presence.

Rolling her eyes in mock annoyance, Aisha sped up her pace so he wouldn't catch up to her. Which he did. "What do you want, Santos?" she quipped, crossing her arms over her chest.

Carloe smirked, unfazed by her cold demeanor. "Just thought I'd grace you with my presence, Harris," he replied, his tone dripping with arrogance.

Despite their playful banter, there was an undeniable tension between them, a silent rivalry that had simmered beneath the surface for years. As the best friend of Aisha's older brother and a constant presence in her life, Carloe was a constant thorn in her side, challenging her at every twist and turn.

But beneath their snarky remarks and witty comebacks, there was something else-a spark of curiosity, a hint of attraction that neither of them dared to acknowledge.

Little did they know, their paths were about to collide in ways they never imagined, setting off a chain of events that would change their lives forever.
