In the candlelit study, Klaus traced patterns on Damon’s chest. His fingers lingered over the scar where Damon’s heart should be.

Klaus: “You’re a vampire, Damon. Dead inside. But I see something in those eyes—a longing, perhaps.”

Damon: “And what do you see in your own eyes, Nik? Centuries of pain? Regret?”

Klaus’s lips found Damon’s neck, and he whispered against the cool skin.

Klaus: “I’ve loved and lost. I’ve killed and conquered. But you…you’re different.”

Damon: “Different how?”

Klaus: “You’re my salvation and my damnation. Our love defies nature, Damon. It’s chaos and creation.”

They kissed, desperate and hungry. Their bodies melded together, immortal and insatiable.
