Am I Forgiven?

Chapter 11

Alexander was sitting on the bed, reprimanding himself for his foolish actions.

How could he even do that?

How could he touch her without her consent?

He shook his mind to clear it. He thought to leave this village immediately in order to find the culprits. He couldn't bring any distraction upon himself at this moment.

Suddenly he heard a coughing sound.

He looked up to see Athena standing at the door. She held a bowl of porridge and a glass of water for him.

She entered the room and kept the bowl on the stand beside.

"I brought you food."

"Hmm."

Athena sat by the bed, took a spoonful and blew air over it. Then she held the spoon near his mouth.

Alexander gulped it down.

"You have been doing well and your injuries have also been healing."

"I need to leave as soon as possible. I can't stay here any longer."

"Yes." She looked down at her lap.

Suddenly there was a knock at the main door. Both of them became alarmed.

"Hide! Now!"

Alexander leaped out of the bed. He crouched down and shifted under the bed.

By that time, Athena was already downstairs opening the door. A man was standing with a spear in his hand.

"Zach, what are you doing here?"

"Ah dear Athena, it's been a long time since I have been here. Won't you welcome me?"

"No, state your business and then get out of here. Cheshire Village doesn't allow you to visit a maiden, announced. Have you started forgetting the rules?" Athena moved back to closed the door on his face.

But his hand blocked it.

"I don't think I am the only one forgetting the rules, am I?"

"I am too busy to solve your foolish riddles. Bye."

Zach forced open the door and entered her house.

"Busy with what? A man?"

"I would rather call him a patient."

"Ah patient, I see. I would love to see the patient of my future wife."

Zach advanced a little before he was stopped by Athena.

"I am not your father's property that you would claim me without my permission. Leave otherwise I would call the village men."

"What do you think? I don't know that you have kept a city lad in your home? What do you think they would be happy to find an unknown man in the house of a maiden?"

"I would love to see you try." Athena smiled at him.

This infuriated Zach. He grabbed Athena by her arm.

"You would be mine and that's your fate!"

He stomped away and Athena closed the door. She hurried up the stairs and barged through Alexander's door.

"Come out!"

Alex peeked from under the bed.

"Listen! Someone has got the news that you are here. You need to leave the village right now."

"But it's dark outside. I don't know this village very much. Where would I go?"

"Don't worry, I would take you to till the edge of the river. You would find an empty boat there. Take it and sail towards the other end. You would have to cross a dense forest which would take a day and then you would be back to the city."
