Ed was quiet when sitting next to Echo who simply rubbed her hands together still tingling with after chills. Noticing the movement of the couch she looked up and saw him sitting there looking to be in a contemplative state, so she decided to stay quiet to allow him the time to think over whatever he was going to do or say. It was only a short moment longer when he looked over to her with a thoughtful expression.

“Echo?”

“Hm?” She shivered slightly at the sound of her name.

“I have something . . .important to tell you.” He sighed catching the interested glint in her different colored eyes, and for a moment just observed the blue and hazel contrasting each other. Such an odd choice of colors for Heterochromia, but after much investigating he found out that no one else in her family had Heterochromia.

“Yes?” She snapped him out of his thoughts so he nodded silently apologizing for daydreaming like that then let out a long breath.

“I’m . . .not what you see me to be.” Ed started and took a quick glance over to her to see her expression, and if anything it was confused.

“What do you mean?” Echo overlooked him quickly, “Are you a transvestite?”

“Oh hell no.” He chuckled happy the mood had been lightened by some bit, “I’m something more . . .not human . . .?” This was going to be harder than he thought, and the look on her face made him suspect she thought of him as another crazy in the world.

“Not . . .human?” The words poisoned her mind, demons, angels, pixies, all sorts of imaginative figures came into mind as she thought over the word.

“Yes, and I think it’s time to tell you what I really am, and for the reason why Classy has the ability to speak.”

“I always wondered about that, I thought it was just a science thing.” She smiled slightly nervous about what he was going to say.

“Echo.” He started and held his breath for a moment more, “I’m an . . .Incubus.”

“An Incubus?” Echo blinked slightly unclear, she’s heard of the name but never really searched into it.

“Yes, a demon in a male form and in legendary traditions, lies upon sleepers, especially women, in order to have intercourse with them.” The very words felt like venom to his mouth for speaking such things to her, “An incubus may pursue sexual relations with a woman in order to father a child, as in the legend of Merlin. Religious tradition holds that repeated intercourse with an incubus or succubus may result in the deterioration of health, or even death.”

“But-” She quieted herself for a moment, “This-” Echo couldn’t understand what he had just spoken to her, so she quietly stood up being as careful as she could then quickly ran, she didn’t want to understand what he had told her. If anything he was a lunatic that deserved to be in an asylum, although Echo had to rethink her plan because she missed her turn to run out of the mansion and instead ran up the stairs to only get lost. Echo hadn’t ever imagined how big the place was until now, she felt so small and helpless, and now there was a crazy man believing to be an Incubus of all things that was probably chasing her down to murder her.

Echo let out a yelp feeling arms at her waist, she struggled violently to get away. Adrenaline was kicking in but a hand pressed at her neck and she went limp, not unconscious, just limp.

“Echo, I need you to calm down” His voice entered her ears causing her eyes to widen, she wanted to get away, needed to, but she supposed she really couldn’t do anything about that, “I wasn’t done explaining.”

“Go on then.” Echo muttered still in his arms since she couldn’t stand for herself physically at the moment.

“I’m only a stage four Incubus, which means I can’t do any sort of intercourse with any human, I only eat their dreams.” He explained and suddenly everything clicked, for the past month she hadn’t been able to have any dreams of any sort lately, which bothered her since dreams was the best part of sleep for her.
