"Say yes to heaven, say yes to me. I've got my eye on you."
The night had grown cold and dark, the kind that pressed against the windows like a quiet warning.
Inside her room, Binna paced restlessly, arms crossed tightly over her chest. Her heart beat erratically, her fingers twitching with uncertainty as she chewed nervously on the edge of her thumb. Her mind swirled in circles.
Should I apologize to him? Or leave things alone?
Every time she thought of her last words to Yi-chan, a sharp pang tore through her chest. She had pushed him away, lied to him. Even though it had nearly broken her to say it. She didn't mean it. She just... didn't know how to handle what she felt.
But silence felt worse. Much worse.
With a determined huff, she sank into the chair at her desk and grabbed a black ink pen from the ceramic cup by her lamp. Her hand hovered over a blank sheet of paper.
She began to write, slowly:
"I'm sorry, Yi-chan. Everything I said last time was a lie. I was trying to get out of the way, so you and Se-kyung could go back..."
Her pen halted mid-sentence. The words suddenly felt juvenile. Embarrassing. She tore the page out, crumpling it in her fist. I sound so pathetic. She didn't want Yi-chan to think she was weak. Or foolish. She just wanted to tell the truth—without losing her dignity.
As she reached to toss the paper aside, the quiet hum of the fax machine startled her. She turned her head, watching as the machine whirred and printed a single sheet. Her brows furrowed in confusion.
Who—?
Only one person knew her fax number.
Binna carefully picked up the paper. Her eyes scanned the simple, urgent message.
