It had been a few months since the destruction of the People's Republic Army Navy Type 815 spy ship PRAN Beijixing was sunk by a still-unknown attacker according to Beijing. The United States had formally declared the sinking of the spy ship was as a warning to the People's Republic of China if they sent their spy ships near any exercises of the US or any of its allies. Now, one of the largest naval exercises was coming up with the United States' Eagle Union being the hosts and the staging ground being the waters off Hawaii. It was to be a gathering of nations which 19 nations sending ships with their KAN-SEN to strengthen their team-building and skills. It was none other than the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, better known as "RIMPAC" for short and for the event, 48 ships from the eight nations including a "surprise" member yet to be revealed. As everyone waited for the main event and the mysterious arrival, there was also sporting events on the field. Forget the World Cup, it was the RIMPAC Cup and doing commentary was none other the retired Eagle Union submarine USS Bowfin (AGSS-287) and the famous battleship Missouri (BB-63).

Bowfin: It's another beautiful day in Hawaii here, as usual for the RIMPAC Cup Finals.

Missouri: Indeed, Bowfin. Today, a storm is really forming on the field as the scruffy Eagle Union team are butting heads with the Fusou Marine Self Defense Force.

Bowfin: Score is 2-0 Japan vs the US. Man, this certainly brings back some memories.

Missouri: Correct, but the US has to show it has some life. Team leader Kidd better do something to rally her troops.

Kidd: Come on! Let's do this, Eagle Union!

It was then that the game really kicked into gear as Kidd's team, which was formed of the rather standard destroyer for the Eagle Union of the Arleigh Burke-class sisters. Soon enough was starting to go the American way but around two minutes from full time, Kidd was about to get a perfect kick of the soccer ball in mid-air but instead, she got a face full of cleat.

Bowfin: Ooooooo... now that's gotta hurt. Kidd just copped a face full of cleat from Japan's Atago. Wonder what that tasted like, eh?

Missouri: A penalty kick has been awarded to Eagle Union. Tell you one thing, Kidd better not screw this up because this could decide the game. At 2-1 in Japan's favor, this is getting tense.

As everyone mainly watched the game unfold between the two Pacific allies, others went to check things out. Towards the heads facing out into the ocean that RIMPAC would soon take place on, the Australian light carrier and former LHD Canberra was enjoying some peace and quiet. This was until the arrival of the Fuso Marine Self Defense Force's Kaga. Like most KAN-SEN labelled with the prefix "JS", she shared a resemblance to her Sakura Empire or "IJN" ancestor, who like many from that old navy, was killed alongside most of Kido Butai during the Second Siren War in Midway while assisting Eagle Union.

Kaga: Hey, Canberra. Yen for you're thoughts?
