Zeus

The daily meeting between the gods was coming to an end. Zeus was pleased with the outcome. Even if everyone else seemed to be displeased with one thing or another. It didn't matter however. As king, his word was final. No one bothered to argue with that. Or they didn't bother to argue out loud.

The main hall was clearing out. Zeus' mind went to the mortal that has captured his attention at the moment. He had promised to see her today. However, he didn't really know when she would be there. And what did he look like spending all day at a train station waiting for some mortal? Zeus was a god - the king of gods. He waited for no one. He sat around for no one. Especially not some mortal. There were plenty of other mortals around. He didn't understand why he was trying so hard for someone who clearly wasn't giving him what he wanted.

But this mortal was the only thing that captured Zeus' attention right now. He tried to find another mortal last night. But it was lackluster to say the least. And didn't satisfy him in the end. Zeus needed to have this mortal. He needed to have (Y/n). If he didn't have her, he didn't want anybody.

Then there was the prophecy that concerned him. The Fates couldn't have been talking about (Y/n), could they? He can't he destined to a mortal. What does he look like? The king of gods falling in love with a mortal! No one would let him live it down for a millennia. Especially his brothers. Poseidon won't let him hear the end of it. Zeus couldn't have that. There has to be some way to get out of this damn prophecy.

"Zeus."

Zeus comes back from his thoughts to see Hera standing in front of him. They don't talk as they used to. Not since the nasty divorce that came from them. It's bad enough the mortals still think they're together. It's worst when the gods and goddesses make snide comments. It's easy to avoid each other now. When it started, it was tougher. Though they fell into a rhythm. And Zeus was able to go about his way, fucking whoever he deemed fit.

Zeus stands up straighter. "Hera." He speaks.

Hera crosses her arms. A coldness breeze by her. Zeus got the feeling that this talk would be just like his talk with the Fates. He assumed he wouldn't like this talk. He could hope that this was only about the meeting. Hera was still the queen of the gods. But Zeus had a feeling that could change in the future. Especially with the prophecy in effect.

"There is talk of the Fates whispering. They say your prophecy has gone into effect." Hera states.

Zeus rolls his eyes. Of course the Fates were around talking. They love to taunt him with the forsaken prophecy. There must be a way to get it erased. However the only way Zeus knows is for the Fates to cut that twine. And he figured the Fates wouldn't do that for him. They seem content on seeing this prophecy through.

"We have known of this prophecy for a long time. It has not happened in a millennia. It will not happen now." Zeus responds.

Hera's eyes roll in annoyance. Zeus could feel her anger getting the best of her. Everyone loved to see Hera as that ideal mother figure with her being the goddess of marriage and all. However Zeus knew the truth. Zeus knew that she wasn't the loving wife that she claims to be. Zeus knew that she wasn't the loving mother everyone thinks she is. And Zeus knew that she wasn't the epitome of marriage the mortals see her as.

"We all know that once the Fates put destinies into effect, nothing can change that. You're doomed to fall in love with a mere mortal." Hera sneers.

"Does it honestly concern you Hera? We are not together anymore. It does not concern you who I see." Zeus comments.

"It does when everything in Olympus is at stake! You cannot be with some mortal! Think of what that will look like!" Hera screeches.

"Make a scene why don't you."

Hera rolls her eyes. "I have a proposal for you, Zeus. One that will help all of us."

Zeus stares at Hera. He knows that he shouldn't make any deals with Hera. Not considering their history. Hera always played dirty. She always wanted more than she would give. Zeus knew this from experience. He knew that she always had some underlying ploy when she made deals with him.

"What type of deal?" Zeus wondered.

Hera smiles. Though her smile wasn't friendly of warm. It never was when she directed her at Zeus. Zeus can't remember a time where she was ever happy with him. He can't remember a time when they were happy together. It was probably best that they weren't married anymore. Sure it causes some conflicts. But it's better than the toxicity that was their marriage.

"Instead of being with that mortal, you marry me again. That way we both keep our status and you won't have to worry about being the laughingstock of the gods." Hera proposes.

Right there. That was her motive. She wanted to remain queen. There was no way she would ask Zeus for another marriage between them. And Zeus wasn't foolish enough to ever get into a marriage with the goddess of marriage again. Zeus would rather be stuck in Tartarus than ever marry Hera again.

"Do you hear yourself? I would never marry you again, Hera. Not now, not in a century. Not even in a millennia." Zeus sneers.

"You rather marry some mortal?"

Zeus' eyes narrow into a glare. "You're only worried about keeping your status. You don't want to help me. You want to be queen."

Hera tilted her head up and narrowed her eyes. "So what if I'm acting in my best interest? You clearly don't know what you're doing. You only think with your penis!"

A rage filled Zeus. Maybe he did always go fuck whoever he wanted. Maybe he wasn't the most faithful partner. But Zeus was no fool. And for Hera to insinuate that he was made him furious.

Zeus stepped closer. A spiteful nature filling him now. "You know what Hera. This mortal will become queen. This mortal will replace you as my wife and as queen. And you'll be nothing more than a bitter goddess."

Hera stared at Zeus. Zeus made sure to stare back. He wanted to make sure that Hera knew he was serious. He wanted to know that he would keep this promise to make her nothing.

"I will make sure this marriage of yours burn and withers before it even starts. No one will ever want to be with you. Not even the woman you're destined with."

And then she turns at and storms out the room. Leaving Zeus with the echo of her words in the air. Zeus felt his heart sink. If Hera was anything, she was spiteful. She would make well on her promise. And Zeus didn't know how he would counter it now that he claimed he would end up with this mortal.
