The group of Slovakian religious leaders were members of the Bratislava branch of Paranormal House, an international organization dedicated to investigating and combating mythical creatures, as well as paranormal and supernatural activities. They had received an invitation from a mysterious benefactor to investigate a strange artifact in a remote castle in the Carpathian Mountains. The artifact was said to be the skull of Zalmoxis, an ancient god of the Dacians, who was believed to have the power of resurrection and immortality. The benefactor claimed that the skull was emitting a dark energy that was affecting the nearby villagers, causing them to fall ill or go mad.
The group consisted of Father Martin, a Roman Catholic priest and the leader of the group; Sister Anna, a Slovak Greek Catholic nun and the group's medic and healer; Pastor Lukas, an Evangelical pastor and the group's tech expert and hacker; Eva, a young woman who was unaffiliated with any religion, but had a strong interest in the paranormal and supernatural, and was the group's researcher and analyst; and Ibrahim, a Muslim immigrant who was the group's driver and pilot.
They arrived at the castle after a long and perilous journey through the snowy mountains. They were greeted by a man who introduced himself as Dr. Radu, the benefactor who had invited them. He was a tall and thin man, with a pale complexion and a long black beard. He wore a dark suit and a cape, and had a cane in his hand. He spoke with a thick accent and a polite tone.
"Welcome, my friends, to Castle Zalmoxis. I am so glad you could make it. I have been expecting you for a long time," he said, smiling.
"Thank you for your invitation, Dr. Radu. We are here to help you with your problem. Where is the skull of Zalmoxis?" Father Martin asked.
"Ah, yes, the skull. It is in the basement, in a special chamber. I will show you the way. But first, let me offer you some refreshments. You must be tired and hungry after your journey," Dr. Radu said.
He led them to a large dining hall, where a table was set with various dishes and drinks. He urged them to sit down and enjoy themselves.
"Please, help yourselves. Everything is prepared for you. I will join you shortly. I just need to check on something," he said, and left the room.
The group looked at each other with suspicion. They did not trust Dr. Radu, and they sensed something was wrong.
"Something is not right here. This place gives me the creeps. And what is he checking on?" Pastor Lukas said.
"I agree. We should be careful. He might be hiding something from us. Or worse, he might be working for the enemy," Ibrahim said.
"Who is the enemy?" Eva asked.
"The enemy is anyone who wants to use the skull of Zalmoxis for evil purposes. The skull is a powerful and dangerous artifact. It can grant life, but it can also take it away. It can heal, but it can also harm. It can bless, but it can also curse. It can be a source of light, but it can also be a source of darkness," Father Martin explained.
"Wow, that sounds scary. How do you know all this?" Eva asked.
"I have studied the history and legends of Zalmoxis. He was a god of the Dacians, a people who lived in this region before the Romans conquered them. He was said to have taught them the secrets of immortality, and to have died and resurrected three times. He was worshipped as a supreme deity, and his skull was considered a sacred relic. It was kept in a temple, where only the priests and the king could access it. But then, the Romans came, and destroyed the temple, and took the skull. They brought it to Rome, where it was used for various experiments and rituals by the emperors and the magicians. It was lost for centuries, until it was found by Dr. Radu, who brought it back to this castle," Father Martin said.
