This took place in a moment in Half-blood Prince. One of the moments when Ron and Lavander shows a public display of affection and Hermione finds a private place and cries because of Ron..
It was already dark outside and almost everyone was asleep, except for Hermione Granger who was still in the Room of Requirement with very red eyes. She had been there for a while, crying her eyes out. She felt hurt and lonely, and it was Ron's fault, well, that's what she forced to think.
The Room of Requirement was just a simple empty room with a soft couch at the center and a bunch of tissues around it, just what she needed. She could not go to anyone, obviously, Ron was automatically out, Harry was too busy with the wretched Half-Blood Prince's book and Ginny... Well, Hermione couldn't just tell her, since it was all because of her own brother. And so, she went to the aid of the Room of Requirement, not much of comfort was given except for its privacy.
"Oh, Ron..." She whispered to herself, her voice filled with despair. "Why must you hurt me this way?"
But that wasn't the real question; her real question was why... Why was she affected so much? Had she really developed feelings for that git? Did she really want to be more than friends with Ron? No. That was not it. It was something more, probably worse than that. But it can't be, not after all those years? It's not possible, is it?
Old memories forced its way into Hermione's mind, bringing more tears to her eyes.
'It was her first year. She entered the train with great excitement, her luggage in one hand, and her wand in the other. Almost all compartments were full, and she almost gave up searching for one, until she saw a pale-blonde boy sitting alone in an open compartment. I hope he lets me sit with him.
"Hi, I am Hermione Granger" She said with a smile on her face, gaining the boy's attention. "May I sit with you?"
The boy stared at her in the eyes with his own grey ones. His stare made Hermione feel uncomfortable, never before had she been looked into the eyes by someone. He had such beautiful eyes. The thought made Hermione's cheeks boil. The boy raised a questioning brow at this.
"M-may I?" She asked again, ignoring his questioning look.
He smirked and simply said, "No."
"Oh- oh, okay... I'll... I'll just go now," She said, feeling quite embarrassed.
She went on; looking for other available compartments, but her thoughts never left the mysterious boy.'
'The First Years had already entered the Great Hall, and the so-called Sorting Hat had already sung its wonderful song. It was time for the sorting, and Hermione couldn't wait for her name to be called. Where would I be sorted? She wondered. While waiting, she thought of the possibilities until Professor McGonagall had shouted, "Hermione Granger!"
She went for the stool in front and put on the Sorting Hat.
