I was taking a rest after escaping from some of the little beasts called "smiling critters".
Looking at my phone I found that I didn't have any signal down here.
No wonder.
Getting up, I headed through an uncomfortable...prison?
Slowly, I eyed the open cages left and right until...
"You're...Poppy's angel..."
I flinched as I turned to my left and found a chained-up dog, his legs missing.
"Well, I was never called an angel before...I'm just trying to survive"
"We all are... But you... We don't have much time. You need to leave-"
The sound of crawling came from afar and I knew I had to save him. He was one of the few who meant no harm...
Quickly I got to him and began buckling on the belts
"W-wait...what are you-"
"ufff!"
I placed him on my back and quickly got out with him as I saw the little critters making their way towards us.
I ran through the door, cutting corners and just running through everything that was open.
After some time
We came to a halt.
"You...saved me...you really are an angel!"
I chuckled.
"We need to find a wheelchair or anything that I could put you in to move, so I don't have to carry you the whole time."
"I would...like that. Thank you...what is your name?"
"(Name)", I smiled.
"What a nice name...I'm Dogday."
"thanks I chose it myself." I joked.
Dogday tilted his head but lightly chuckled afterward.
We headed to the next room and as if this place was reading my thoughts, a hospital wheelchair was quietly resting in a corner.
"There!"
I gently placed him on it.
"Thank you, Angel."
My cheeks grew hot as he tried to move in it.
The long back and the armrests made it difficult for him to move forward but he told me it was fine for him.
We moved around and found an elevator, which took us down to a room with a blue battery in it.
"Stay here. I'll be right back."
I headed out an inserted the thing inside the slot.
Then...
Red smoke filled the room as Catnap slowly crawled out of a door.
"(Name)! Get back in! Quick!"
I ran to the elevator and closed the door as Catnap climbed up with the same speed as the elevator, starring at us creepily.
"Scary..."
"Catnap... Here, hold my hand. It's okay, we're safe," he growled slightly at Catnap before his voice softened and offered to take my hand.
Gently, I accepted and Dogday began to affectionately caressed my hand with his thumb for a while before we arrived back up.
"T-thank you. That was actually...calming," I tried to cool down my glowing cheeks while Dogday nervously stuttered a "you're welcome" while we avoided eye contact.
Eventually, we got off and eventually found another elevator down to a room full of the red smoke.
"Be careful, Angel. Catnap must be here. I...do not want to lose you..." Dogday expressed his worries as he reached out to me.
"No worries! I'll be back. Don't worry! If Catnap appears, I'll fight it!" I beamed out as I held his hand.
He chuckled.
"You're so strong...be safe."
"I will."
I nodded at him before getting off, leaving him on the elevator.
The fight was tough. I repeatedly tried to send catnap back and insert a new battery into the machine before it was finally fully charged.
I charged my hand when suddenly I got pulled back.
"(Name)!"
Catnap moved towards me. Dogday was struggling to move from behind him.
The purple monster screamed as I blasted my charged hand at him, smoke began filling the room while it whined in pain.
Suddenly a metal hand arrived from above, light shining down on him, while Catnap slowly raised himself up to it.
Then mine and Dogday's eyes grew wide in shock as the hand stabbed through Catnap's mouth, taking the cat with them and disappearing the same way it entered from above.
"That...was..." I started at the ceiling before Dogday rolled over to me.
"(N-Name)? Angel, are you okay?"
I shifted my gaze to him as he helped me up.
"Y-yeah just a little shocked from the scene we witnessed earlier." I smiled before we made our way back to the elevator.
Back up, both us us headed to the big computer and steeled the red smoke to the left.
"The door to the next room is open. Let's head there. Here, I'll help."
I gently pushed Dogday to the next room while I gave him a little smile.
"Thank you. It's difficult to move in this thing," he thanked me and rested his arms on the armrest.
Looking around, we spotted a circular metal plate with chains leading up to the ceiling.
Suddenly a voice called out to us.
"(Name)?, Dogday?"
