The 3 competitors are laying on the floor in the training room side by side with y/n in the middle. They are getting ready to do push-ups while Ghost says when to go up and down. Y/n is stressing out badly, her palms sweating like never before.
Up, down, up, down again and again. The whole world slips your mind as you only focus on your Lieutenant's voice, his calm and calculated tone filling your brain with a satisfied feeling. His rough british accent makes you feel like you have to keep going, like he actually wants you on the team now. "Come on, for Ghost.. Even if he doesn't admit it, he knows how good I am.."
The second one of the men drops to the floor, she smiles a bit, but keeps going. Just a couple more seconds, maybe minutes and if she's good enough, her future has been decided.
The other man is still going, but she is way too exhausted, only her mind keeping her going as well as Ghost's rough and hot voice's tingling in her ears. The man gives up just a second before her and they both look up at Ghost to see who won. The masked man looks at them both, trying to figure out what would be the good decision here. The little girl, who might have won but would be way harder to deal with or a man who's already trained for everything, but still lost the competiton.
"Y/n, welcome to the team." He says, but if anybody ever asked why he'd choose the worse option, even he wouldn't be able to tell. But there's such a sass in y/n, it would've been hard to let her go.
The man who came second place looks like he's fuming, but the second his eyes meet Ghost's, he calms down before the Lieutenant tries to help him relax.
"Congratulations, y/n!" Price smiles. "Gotta say I was hoping you'd win. We need an interesting character to work with and you're a good solider as well, darling." He pats her shoulder. "Soap, help her move into her own quarters, yeah?" The man nods right after he heard the command.
Later, she's packing out her stuff and small decorations in her quarters when she hears a loud knock on the door.
"Solider, we need to discuss your training." A tingle goes down her spine as she hears that deep voice that belongs to the man who she hates and likes at the same time.
"Come in!" With that, the door opens and Ghost stands right before her.
"Cap told me that you were complaining to Soap about me."
"That does not concern my training, sir."
"Yeah, just thought you could say it to me if you have a problem with how I'm managing your training." He stares her down, his arms crossed against his chest. "I could call back the other competitor and kick you out if I wanted to."
"Well, why don't you want to?" She stares back at his eyes. He tries to keep himself turn but his softening gaze fails him.
"Doesn't concern you in any way whatsoever." He looks away, sighing a bit before pinching the bridge of his nose. "We start the training on monday and your only vacation day is sunday. Except when there's a mission that starts or still goes on at the end of the week. Every month, you get two days completely off to see your family. Again, if we have a mission going on the last weekend of the month, which is the vacation days, you dont get those days off. Understood?"
"Yes, sir. I can't wait to start my nice and easy training with you." She smiles in a sarcastic way.
"Keep up that tone and see what happens." With that, he goes out the room, smashing in the door after himself. She chuckles quietly, loving how funny is the way he hates her but still chose her to stay.
At around midnight, she's already done all the packing out and just sits in the window to get some air while listening to music, thinking about how hard the first training will be after she spoke back to Ghost like that.
