*wigs and thinking caps, secure them

Silence.

That's all that can be heard as the Renascence coven sleeps in their hotel rooms.

Their surprise presence at the dinner caused such a stir up that it was difficult to tune out of the other covens' energy and thoughts. It took several hours for it subside. In the midst of all of that, they decided that it was best to actually sleep to help tune things out.

It worked... for some.

Others? Not so much.

Genesis lies awake in bed, staring at the ceiling and feeling anxious. It feels impossible for ber to sleep. How can she be expected to when she can feel the energy of several people weighing down on her? She can hear their thoughts.

Try as she might, she cannot escape it.

It isn't as simple for her as it is for the rest. Everything for her is amplified. Even the not-so-great things.

With a sigh, Genesis wiggles her way out of Taehyung and Jungkook's grasp. She crawls out of bed, puts her robe on and walks out to the balcony to sit on the bench.

The floor that Seokjin paid for has a balcony that spans runs the length of all the rooms. It's a shared space, with a door leading to each suite that the coven members occupy.

"Can't sleep?" A voice says.

Genesis shakes her head.

"Me either. It's too loud." Avery sits in the seat next to her.

"I thought it was just me." Genesis says. "Everyone else seems to be sleeping just fine with all the chaos."

"Well, they've lived in it for an extensive amount of time, so." Avery shrugs. "Everyone's wanted them all dead since the coven was founded."

"Well, you too, right?" Genesis says as she looks over. "You've always been with me and them. Since my very first life. That's how we met, isn't it?" She wonders.

Avery inhales as she nods slowly. She looks away from Genesis, to the ground.

"Harrison was looking for people to help you step into your role." She acknowledges Genesis's father. "And I was looking for a way into the castle."

"Ugh. I hear it was awful. Why would you want to be there? I don't have all of my memories back from that life yet but from what I have seen, it was awful."

Avery smiles somberly. "Harrison was a tyrant, yes. An awful human being, for sure. But I'd have taken anything over the life that I was living."

She swallows thickly and for a second, Genesis has trouble feeling her emotions. As if they're being withheld, as if they've been tucked away with no intent to be found again.
