"Minnie" Ona sighs. "I'm not telling him Ona" I decline. "It's been two days, Samkelo's not bringing them back. It's either that or you file for custody against him" She states. "Ona" I sigh."I've already called him, he's on his way. If you don't tell him then I will... It's not just about you, it's also about the babies. You not telling him is selfish" She walks away. I pull the covers over my body, groaning.
I reluctantly get up and take a shower before continuing to stuff my face with junk food. It's all I've been able to do for the past two days. I've tried contacting Samkelo, I can't seem to get a hold of him and it's driving me insane. "He's here"
Oh modimo, nthuše.
I scramble out of my room and make my way to the living room. I find Tata seating on the couch, acting as if he owns the place. He smiles when he sees me and I force a smile back. I sit beside him and Ona walks in and sits on the couch near the one we're seated on.
"Where are my grandchildren?" It's the first thing he asks when we're all settled. "Tata..." I clear my throat. "I asked you a question Minentle" He says and I shift uncomfortably. The room grows silent. "Ndithetha ndedwa?"
"Minnie, bua marn" Ona nudges me. "Uhm... Tata" I start. "Minnie" Ona whisper. "Don't rush me Onalerona" I whisper shout. "You've been stuck on the same phrase for two minutes now" She whispers back. Mxm.
"Uhm... Tat-" I'm cut off by the front door opening. All of our heads snap in the direction of the door and my eyes widen in horror. "Ngiyakutshela, ngiyayazi le ndawo marn Samkelo!" Ma'Lwethu?
She's carrying Luzuko whilst Samkelo has Liyakhanya and Liyema in his arms. "Minentle" Tata lowly says. "I-..." I trail off. "Ntando?" Ma'Lwethu frowns as she steps into the room, handing Liyakhanya to Ona. "Ufuna ntoni apha Olwethu?!"
"Me?... I'm here to see the girl that my son impregnated Wena? Sanibonani ekhaya by the way." She shrugs. "Y-You're Samkelo's mother?" I stutter. "This family reunion thing is all cute and stuff can we not do this infront of the children?" Ona proposes.
They all turn to face me. I briefly close my eyes, Now I have to deal with three problems. I quickly get up walking down to my room, locking the door. They'll all leave eventually. I can hear the commotion in the living room as I pace around my room.
The door clicks open and Samkelo walks in- but I locked the door... He shuts it behind him. "Naledi" He calls out. "I didn't plan any of this Samkelo. I didn't know she was your mother. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" I keep on rambling.
"Naledi" He repeats. "Mhm?" I keep quiet. "I know" He says. "I'm sorry" I whisper as he pulls me into his arms. "What are you apologising for?" He mutters. "For keeping my pregnancy a secret from you, I'm sorry" He remains silent.
There's banging on the door. "You two need to come out and deal with your parents" Ona shouts over the commotion. "I'm coming!" I shout back and she smacks her lips together before walking away. "We need to talk" He says and I nod before walking out.
"Yeyi! Ungangithinti wena! Ngizokubulala Ntando, kuyacaca ukuthi awazi ukuthi ubani umyeni wami!" I hear Ma'Lwethu shouting. "I didn't even touch you!"
"Uthi ngiqamba amanga? U-Dineo kufanele abophe inja yakhe" She clicks her tongue in annoyance. I look over at Ona who's rolling on the floor with laughter. I clear my throat and they both turn to me. "Tata, Ke kopa re bue"
He follows me into the kitchen whilst Ma'Lwethu is glaring daggers at him. "Don't tell me that that boy got you pregnant" He places his hands into his pocket. "He did"
"What were you doing in Zungu territory? How'd you even get in there? How'd you meet him? How long have you been sneaking around for? Did Olwethu know all along? Did your mother know?" He's shooting these questions like bullets.
"I don't know. I met Samkelo a few months ago at the mall. I don't know about Mama or Ma'Lwethu being his mother. I promise" I honestly say. "I'm definately killing your mother after this" He says to himself. "Mara Tata..." I trail off.
"I'm going to leave and when I come back all this better have disappeared. I don't want that boy anywhere near you or you anywhere near his family and I mean it" He states. "No... He's the father of my children, I can't just cut him from their lives. He'll take them away from me Tata, they're much more stronger than us. If they can kill Tat'omkhulu then they can kill us" I argue.
"Is that boy forcing you to be with him?' he frowns. "No, Tata. I love Samkelo. He's not forcing me to be with him" I say without any hesitation. "Love? You love that boy?" He gritts out with a dark chuckle. "Yes" I confidently nod.
"Minentle, pack your things. We're going back home. Clearly this place is corrupting your mind" He walks back into the living room. I follow after him. "Tata, No. I'm not leaving"
"I'm not going to repeat myself" He sternly says. "No. Please" I plea. "Haibo, Ntando. The child is not going anywhere" Ma'Lwethu buzzes in. "I'm not talking to you. This is between my daughter and I"
"I don't need permission to enter this conversation. She's the mother to my grandchildren, She should be coming back with me if not you" They argue. "I'm not going anywhere with any of you. I'm staying here" I decline.
"Say something" I nudge Samkelo as they continue arguing. He shrugs. "Ngithe ungangithinti!" she screams at Ntando. "Do you want me to call my husband?" She threatens. I've never seen my father this angry before, he's even turning red.
"Please stop. I'm not going anywhere with any of you"
