Imani had been acting real distant over the past couple of weeks. She had been keeping our conversations short and sweet, wasn't pulling up at the crib like she'd normally would...just distant. That wasn't like her. Usually she all over me and wanting to be in my skin. Now she acting like wasn't fucking with me no more for real.
I wasn't mad about it, but I'd definitely be lying if I said it didn't faze me at all.
"Aye man. You good?" Von asks me.
I nodded, turning the radio down, and putting my focus back on the road in front of me. I was so spaced I almost forgot I was driving for a minute.
"Yeah I'm straight." I said.
"Nigga no you ain't. You ain't even listening to me man." He says. "You been like this since I got in the whip."
"I'm cool."
"Don't tell me it's her."
I looked at him, then back at the road. He chuckles, and shakes his head, rolling up a blunt.
"What's going on?" He asks.
I picked up my phone, checking to see if I had any missed calls or texts before putting it down again.
"I don't know man. She just been acting weird all of a sudden. She won't tell me what's up, being all distant with me." I said. "Barely answering my calls."
He lights it up before taking a long pull from it and passing it to me.
"Well maybe you need to go and check on her. See what's up with that."
"Yeah. I just may have to do that." I started before switching the conversation to another topic. "I thought Rich was rolling with us today. The fuck this nigga at?" I took a hit off the blunt.
Von shrugs. "Man I don't know. He said he had some shit to do. He flying solo today."
Probably with some bitch.

__________Imani knocks at the door of her grandmother's house, waiting in the front steps for her to answer.
Since her mother's accident, Imani had been seeing more and more of her grandmother than she'd seen in years. Her mother's relationship with her own mother was complicated. And so was theirs. She guessed the apple hadn't fell too far from the tree because she could say the same for her and her mother.
But her grandmother was the only family they had, so of course she stepped in her to help Imani's mother during her recovery.
The front door swung opened and her grandmother stepped to the side in order to let her in.
"How is she Nana?" Imani asks walking into the house with a few grocery bags.
It was the least she could do, having both her mother and siblings under her grandmother's roof. Well just her two younger siblings. Iesha practically begged Imani to stay with her and well, her grandmother refused to let Man lay his head at her house.
"She's okay." Her grandmother says. "And I told you that you don't need to bring anything by."
Imani sighs, sitting the bags down on the kitchen counter. Isla and Izekial ran over to Imani, throwing their arms around her.
"I see somebody missed me." Imani says embracing her two youngest siblings.
"I don't need your money Imani." Her grandmother says. "I can take care of things."
"Nana it's the least I can do. Besides, money isn't a problem. You know that."
"Mhmm." She starts. "And exactly where did this donation come from? From that club of yours or from the drugs?" Her grandmother asks.
