Some things in the universe can really surprise you. When you brave the unknown, you will find things you never thought you would. And sometimes, you are not prepared for the obstacles ahead.

The Black and Red Lions are shot out of the corrupted wormhole and sent flying uncontrollably to an unknown barren planet. As they fall, they hurtle into separate directions.

The alarms go off in the cockpit as Shiro struggles to keep the Black Lion steady. I hear him breathe heavily while I cling to the back of his seat.

"Shiro, can you get control?" I ask.

"I'm trying!" He groans. He sounds in pain.

My concern for him is only brief because my attention is then drawn to the planet's growing surface as we get closer to it. Before Shiro can pull up, we make impact and I black out.

"Kayleigha..."

"Kayleigha, can you hear me?"

"Kayleigha! Wake up!"

I groan from the pain ringing in my head as I open my eyes. My blurry vision adjusts as I see Shiro looking over me.

"Are you alright, Kayleigha?" He asks.

I lift my head and touch my helmet. "I hit my head pretty hard, but, yeah, I think I'm okay."

I slowly sit up while still holding my head.

"What happened?" I ask.

"We crash-landed on a barren planet after getting thrown out of the wormhole." He says.

A wave of pain flashes in my head as I remember what happened earlier, causing me to wince. But then my eyes catch the violet-glowing wound on his side. A chill runs down my spine as I recall the memory of when he was attacked by Haggar.

"Behind you!" I try warning him, but as soon as he starts to turn around, Haggar lurches forward and hits his right side.

"Shiro!" I cry as I watch him fall backward.

I can't help but feel guilty for not being able to help Shiro in the fight. If I had done more to help him, maybe we both would have gotten out of the fight unscathed.

Shiro notices that I am staring at his injury and covers it with his hand.

"It's just a scratch."

"No, we both know that it's worse than that. Maybe you shouldn't be moving around so much." I say.

"Kayleigha, I'm fine for now. But we need to make sure Keith is, too." He says back.

"Keith? Is he close by?" I ask.

"No. I haven't heard from him yet. We'll need to go outside to get a signal and talk to him." He explains.

We both exit the Black Lion through the emergency hatch on the Lion's head. I help Shiro climb out before following behind him.

"Keith, are you there? Keith?" Shiro tries contacting the Red Paladin. I listen to communications in my helmet, but there's only static.

"We need to get higher ground." I say.

We climb off the Black Lion's head. I look at Shiro as he has his hand over his wound, trying to ignore the pain.

"Here." I move his left arm over my shoulder, "Lean on me. It'll make walking easier for you."
