Summer.
A joyous season for all students, whether it be delinquents that don't come to school anyway, or uptight bookworms that only care about exam scores.
Why? Because of summer vacation, of course. No school meant the freedom to do whatever one wanted, every day, for more than a month. No student could complain about something like that.
This, though? This was something else, something no one could've expected.
I mean, a freaking summer vacation on a cruise ship?! How could our school even fund something like this?! I mean, it was one of the smaller Cruise Ships, considering there only needed to be room for about 1400 people, but my point still stands!
Soubu High had never done anything like this in its history before, which is why everyone was so surprised when it was announced. Naturally, nearly everyone from the school was on the ship, because who would ever turn down an opportunity like this?
There were three main sections of the ship, each section holding numerous decks and having multiple different purposes. The student and staff cabins were in the lowest section, obviously being separated by gender. But the other two sections were filled with numerous attractions like pools, restaurants, gyms, karaoke, clubs, anything and everything one could think of was most likely available.
I personally couldn't complain, as I was currently lounging on the top deck, enjoying the view of the stars and a can of MAXX COFFEE as I lied on a pool chair. I was on my second can, and it was becoming clear that two wasn't going to be enough for me so I stood up with a sigh, making my way to a nearby vending machine to quench my thirst for artificial flavors.
Today was our third day on the ship, having just started to get comfortable as we were set to be at sea until about two weeks before school started back up again. For the first two days, most of our class followed Hayama and his clique with a few exceptions, while Hiratsuka-sensei either spent her time drinking or at the pool on the top deck.
Teachers did a roll call each morning to make sure every student in their class was accounted for, and not suddenly lost at sea or something. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but what were the odds of that actually happening? Certainly less than zero, right?
Regardless, something like this was a dream come true for students, and something like roll call was not enough to make this trip mundane for them. I personally planned on taking this opportunity to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I purposely avoided Yukinoshita and Yuigahama during the first two days to explore the ship and do just that, and it's what I'd continue to do for the rest of the trip.
Finally reaching the vending machine, I placed in my yen and went to type in the drink I wanted.
"So what is it you wanted to talk to me about, Yumiko-san?" A faint but familiar voice reached my ears from around the corner. Hayato Hayama. I was a bit surprised he was up this late, as it was almost eleven-o-clock.
The sudden voice caused me to look in the direction of it, and accidentally hit the wrong number, causing a different drink to come out. Matcha Soda? Gross!
"Well, I've felt this way for some time now, but..." Yumiko Miura. An attractive girl with a personality that suddenly made her not so attractive. By the sound of their conversation, it sounded like a confession was due. It wasn't any of my business, though.
Not wanting to leave without my goddess, I begrudgingly fed the machine more of my precious yen, before correctly picking my MAXX COFFEE.
"I love you, please go out with me!" Calm down, girl! Don't let the entire ship hear you!
