What is it?
It means putting organisms (living things) into groups.
The main structure of classification is:
1)Kingdom- There are 5 main kingdoms for living organisms
2)Phylum
3)Class
4)Order
5)Family
6)Genus
7)Species: A group of organisms that can produce fertile (they can also have children) offspring.
NOTE: Remember the order as it is a typical exam question. This mnemonic helps-

Phylum:
This is wether an organism is a vertebrate or an invertebrate. A vertebrate has a backbone but an invertebrate does not.
