Alex looked back to the other side of the bank which now was covered in flames. Athena has done it for him. It has been only weeks Athena has known him and yet she did this. She sacrificed herself so he could escape.
Are all Athenas good?
He now looked forward to the forest that lay in front of him. The lush green texture of the leaves was calling out to him, as if seducing him to get himself lost in there.
He looked back and he was sure he could see a fleck of red hair through the gaps of the flames.
He stepped inside the forest and the leaves crunched under his boots. The sound echoed throughout the forest as if alarming everyone of an upcoming danger. The silent wind rustled through the dried leaves, wriggling it's way out of the gaps between the strong barks of the age old trees.
Alexander continued to walk through the grassy path that was visible under the shiny moonlight. The trees appeared as long swords in the darkening night and the chilly wind made Alexander shiver a bit.
Alexander walked past the twigs and branches that haunted his way, his hair often getting caught in the small splinters that came out of the branches. The night was getting longer and he needed a place to rest, which would also protect him from the cold and the wild animals that loomed at night for food.
A branch cracked in the distance. Alexander would have thought it was him had he not seen the two yellow eyes sparkling in the far bushes. His breath speed up and he walked fast, occasionally glancing at the two yellow eyes that seemed to size him up from that distance.
But before he could get any further, the beast pounced from the bush. Alexander swiftly turned around and came face to face with the beast that was atleast twelve feet away from him.
It was a tiger.
His mind raced, shaking his frozen heart to run. But his feet remained fixed to the ground, adrenaline taking over his body.
A loud roar from the tiger made his senses return to his body and he did the first thing that came to his mind.
Run.
His arms and legs cut through the chilling wind like a whetted knife. The rustling of the steps behind him seem to catch up on him.
The twigs beneath broke, his arms scratched from the friction between his body and the barks. He ran frantically, his soul pushing him to go forward.
I can't die.
I have to live, for my wife, for my Athena.
He saw a giant oak tree in his way and climbed up. His knees scrapped against the bark, his jeans got tattered. He rested himself on a branch. In the distant darkness, he could hear the growl of the tiger and he regretted his every decision to climb the tree. Tigers could climb trees and his adrenaline has made him forget this simple fact.
He could now hear the snarls beneath his branch. The moonlight marked its black strips like diamonds as it circled round the tree.
Why wasn't the tiger climbing up the tre?
You sound disappointed.
His mind told him.
A thought quickly flashed across his eyes. The only reason he could think was that of the tiger's growing age.
He shifted closer to the bark, the branch squeaking under his weight. He continued to look down at the tiger which now looked up at him, his tail beating the dry leaves. Weariness clung over his shoulders and his eyes drooped down as he was pulled back to sleep.

The dull ache in his neck made him wake up from his sleep. His dried drool stuck to his mouth and he cleaned it up. The tiger was gone but its pawprints were still freshly marked on the damp soil. He climbed down the bark and brushed off the specks of wood from his dress.
He ran through the now clear path that was lightened by the daylight. The trees soon started clearing in front of him as he saw more of the light. At last, he stepped out of the forest and the bright sunlight struck his eyes.
He has come to the city, he could feel it but it was an unknown corner.
He asked a passer-by.
"Can you tell me where's the Coloney Square?" The words fumbled out from his mouth.
The man ogled at him, taking in his wild form. His once brown hair, now was full of flowers, twigs and dust. Pollen grains filled his jacket.
"Hello?" Alex waved his hand at the man.
"Walk for 30 minutes to the right and then you would come to a bus stop at your left side. Get on a bus and you would reach Coloney Square."
"Thank you."
Alex stumbled towards the path that now lay in front of him. He didn't have strength to continue but his legs carried him on. He almost fell but balanced himself again and walked on. He reached the bus stop.
He leaned against the glass door and let out a sigh of relief. He needed to get back to the house and think of a plan. Suddenly he caught a familiar glimpse of caramel hair and blue eyes.
He straightened himself as his eyes widened. The man too seemed to notice him. Blue eyes looked into his brown ones.
"Nathan." Alexander breathed.
