"Do it again."
Vanya's face falls, the once nervous glint in her eyes dissipating into a void as she nods. She picks up the file and leaves my office without a word, much less any noise.
"You're being a jerk," Kaya remarks, placing a set of files on my desk.
Kaya Travasso is my secretary. A blunt and arrogant woman who barely smiles and if it weren't for her impeccable work ethic, someone who I would've fired years ago. She is the same age as me and yet acts as if she were older."And you," I hand another file to her as I complete checking over the project budget, "are forgetting your place."
"I'm your boss." She rolls her eyes, staring between me and the pile of files on my desk.
"So you say," she mutters, pursing her lips. "Yet you act unprofessional, mixing work and personal life."
"What do you know about personal life? You don't have one," I remark, her taunts getting to me as I skim over another file.
"At least I get laid. You," she picks up one of the files, "can't even get a girl with all that money."
My jaw ticks and I glare up at her. She stares back, a brow cocked in mockery. It looks like that Smurf's beauty got to her. No other reason explained why she was taking her side over mine.
"The proposal was goo-"
"Could've been better." I cut her off and she frowns. She shakes her head, slamming Vanya's proposal on my desk."What in this could've been better? You've been telling her to revise it for the past two days! It's great!" She argues and I stand up.
"Mr. Oberoi, Ms. Sharma has been the backbone of many other successful projects. She's really good.""Exactly!" I exclaim and she looks seconds away from throwing the file at my head. I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose, closing my eyes for a moment before opening them and looking at her.
"Vanya is better than this. I've seen her proposals. Her work and her dedication to her clients. This," I pick up the file, waving it in the air, "this is nothing compared to those."
"It was good. I admit. But someone talented like her can do a lot better than this!"
